Q: I am looking at adding this to the door at my liquor store. Can it be configured to only detect on one side instead of both?

Q: Will using only 1 of these at a single standard size door work. Or must customers walk between 2 of these for it to work?

It depends on how the doors are set up and where the system is placed. For many set-ups, a single device is enough. It is also affected by whether you are using clothing tags or the RFID Labels (as used on books). The system has to be outside of the door frame , but has a range of 4 1/2 feet on either side or 3 feet to the front and back for clothing tags.
