After 30 years of using cheap winders or none at all, I finally added this nicer winder to my cart (to get to the free shipping on another item.) I added a couple drops of Tri-Flow without trying it just out of habit. It sort of grabs the tuner knobs a little with the yellow rubber and works a lot smoother than the cheap ones at the checkout counter of any guitar store.Don't waste your money on the string winder that has the (terrible) string cutter on it. Get this one, a pair of side-cutters from harbor freight, and one of the many guitar neck supports to lift your guitar at a slight angle.

Great, sure beats doing it by hand.

I'm glad I got this, it is by far, easiest and sturdiest rotator to use.

I am a luthier. I do a lot of setups. For years I used a junky winder that I got for free with pack of strings back in the 90s. Now that I'm getting a little older my arthritis is catching up with me. The grip on this winder is large and easy to hang onto. The cross pattern on the business end is also quite handy. It allows you to lock onto any size tuner button without looking or lining it up. Super easy and smooth. Wish I had picked one of these up years ago!

The crank rolls very smoothly.Only personal complaint is that I found it a bit too large in my hand which made it less than ideal to operate. Probably my fault, because the crank is quality made.

I made a mistake and bought one of those cheap all in one winders but it fell apart after a few uses. This one you can tell is quality the moment you pick it up. I’ve had no issues at all with the unit.

in over 40 years of playing, I have tried everything from the cheap all-in-one tools, to other brands of dedicated winders. I find that these, plus a quality pair of cutters are the best option and make short work of string changes on non locking tuners. highly recommended

This thing is absolutely perfect! The bearings on this thing are super high quality and are probably good for a couple of million turns! Jimi hendrix, Slash, and Buckethead couldn't change that many strings in a lifetime!
