3M Wetordry Sandpaper, 32021, 1000 grit, 9 in x 11 in, 5 Sheets Per Pack

This is real 1000 GRIT (USA measurement scale for abrasives. The other stuff being advertised as 1000 (they leave the "P" off in their descriptions) is actually P1000, but you can only see that on the back of the paper itself. Look closely.The "P" grading scale is an EU scale and, for example, P1000 is similar in roughness to about 520 GRIT in the USA scale. Do not use P1000 in applications where 1000 GRIT is required (polishing, etc...). The sizing scales use "chunks per area" in the EU version, whereas the USA scale that we in the USA are used to is simply "chunks per inch", so the conversion isn't even linear (you can't just divide by some number or anything simple). There are conversion charts however, and you might want to check into this. Bottom line- 3M uses the USA standard. Don't be fooled and use a "P" graded abrasive unless you convert to real GRIT numbers and are still good with the abrasive result. Buy 3M, like I always have... and you will get what you expect.

The sandpaper itself is nice. However it was shipped very poorly. It was unnecessarily folded and carelessly shoved by the warehouse employee into a large enough bubble wrap envelop. Why fold it when it would fit anyway? The crease due to the fold reduces the useful uninterrupted surface.

I purchased multiple grits of this same 3M wet/dry sand paper (32035-800 grit, 32021-1000 grit, 32023-1500 grit) for a couple of paint jobs so forgive my copying this same review to all three. I type all week and don't prefer to do it all weekend as well, sorry! Other than the grit, all of the 3M wet/dry sand paper in this "family" of their products is just a great tool to use. They all work great wet or dry. Although I did not purposely wet sand, in August where I'm you'll end up with that anyway and it does a great job there as well. There is no degradation during hard use wet or dry and with the type of backing used, you can easily "slap" it against something to knock the sanded material out of the paper as you start to lose the sanding function. I highly recommend all of the Imperial Wetordry products by 3M.
