Another hit from quite possibly the best author in the genre
When I first started reading Carsen Taite's books--I think Rush was the first, followed by Reasonable Doubt, The Best Defense, and at least half a dozen others--it quickly became apparent that she was one of my favorite authors of lesbian fiction.Having just finished Above the Law, it's now clear that she is one of my favorite authors, period, irregardless of genre. One thing that you can count on with this author is that she is going to craft a pair of main characters who are flawed and fantastic, compelling and complex, a little broken and a lot brave. This book is no different. Now if you ask me to pick nits and find one fault... I guess I would have to say that I wish the MCs would have gotten together a little sooner in the story. I generally like to get a taste of what the couple looks like once you see that HEA on the horizon instead of them finally coming together on the last page of the book.Anyway, like I said, that's just a little nitpicking. This is another thoroughly enjoyable book by an author who seems incapable of doing anything less than great work.Cheers to Carsen Taite.I can't wait to read what she has for us next. If I was to guess, it might be Bianca's turn to find true love next. Maybe just a little wishful thinking.

Disappointment From A Talented Author
First let me say I find Carson Taite to be a talented author. However, if this was the only book I had read by her my opinion would be much different. The first part of the story is just fine and unfolds at a slightly slow pace, but still unfolds. Then the story speeds up and it totally lost me. I have no idea what really happened in the end - I know this is to get me to buy the next book in this series. I also have no idea how the two main individuals suddenly declared their love for one another. In other words the story just fell apart with no logical thread. I find books that do this to sell me on a series to be extremely disappointing. If you are going to write a series, write it like Ali Vali's the Cain Casey series where each book tells a complete part of the story, but in such a way that you want to know what happens next. I am not sure I care what is going to happen with Dale and Lindsey in the next book. There are so many good books out there and only a finite time to read and Taite may be coming off my must read list. I am giving it three stars instead of two because of Taite's past performance and not so much on this particular one.

Powerful women characters.
The story line for this particular book was intriguing, to say the least.Starting off with a heart wrenching and life changing loss for one of the main characters, instantly draws the reader in and compels them to read more. I also applaud the author for creating MULTIPLE confident, successful and intelligent women characters; not only that, but these characters are portrayed to be successful in normal male dominated fields. I find that completely encouraging! However, the concern I have for the book as a whole is the budding romance between the two main characters; in my opinion, the author rushes the relationship to the point where it not believable to the reader. The ending leaves the author able to continue the story line, and I will look forward to the next chapter, so to speak.

Check it out
Carsen Taite hold the gun on great law enforcement novels with the lesbian twist. Agent Dale Nelson has been stuck with parading around a writer and her crew. It appears both Agent Nelson and Lindsay Ryan are being punished for something. Lindsay is smart and knows there's something more going on in town than meets the eye. Secret meetings with DAs and other law enforcements put Lindsay on the alert. Lots of drama, lots of gun play and a little love.

Very good!
I loved this series and am hooked! I think Dale my favorite of all the protagonists in the entire series so far. She had the deepest and saddest loss of all the characters, and the most to fear about rediscovering love. She was a bad ass and very sweet and bashful when in love. Overall, very good story and on to the next installment!

More than excellent!
Another hit in the Law series. A series that is very addictive with strong and capable characters. I enjoyed every minute and highly recommend.

This whole story could have been summarized in the first ...
This whole story could have been summarized in the first two chapters of the next book to come. Although you knew there was going to be a Lindsey/Dale thing, it never pulled me in.

Okay.
Sorry, but after a strong start I found this book a little disappointing. Even with a potentially strong backstory, (Dale having lost her wife to a violent death a year before this story commences) I found it difficult to engage with the two main characters. Dale's response to losing a partner to violence just doesn't quite add up. Leaving me with little sympathy for what should be a fine romance. Perhaps the timing of just a single years widowhood is the problem. The action scenes are good, but not great, maybe the suspense needs to be ratcheted up a little. The investigation into the drugs cartel is almost abandoned as a plot line (Radclyffe does it far better in the Justice series). It ends abruptly and unsatisfactorily.I will read other books by this author in the hopes that it's just me having an off day and not the writer. Maybe I should have read 'Lay down the law' first?
