For fun swimming, I prefer lycra caps over silicone because I feel like they're more gentle on my hair. I had been in swim team in high school, and I find most people don't put plastic caps on "properly" anyway... If you swim, your hair's gonna get wet. Period. Swimcaps are really to keep your hair out of your way, not to keep it dry. If you're looking to keep long hair dry in the pool, do not depend on a swimcap. Especially do not depend on a cloth swimcap. Seeing negative reviews for other lycra swimcaps, it seems like this isn't an intuitive fact.If you feel like you have a big head, I'd advise you steer away from these. My head is pretty average-sized for being an overall smaller woman (tiny hands, nearly child-sized feet) and these caps just barely come down to cover the entirety of my hairline. They are not sculptured to cover ears, but stretch down over them. If I had much more hair to tuck up in here (I'm currently wearing a 9-inch long purple mohawk), there wouldn't be any room to cover my ears.I highly recommend lycra swimcaps for people with thinning hair or bald heads. The scalp is one of the most frequent places for skin cancer due to sun exposure. Using a cloth swimcap while at the beach or even just out mowing the lawn helps to limit exposure. These ones are very nicely thick, unlike a do-rag or wave cap. I would not recommend them, however, as a wig base or to wear under a wig. The thickness would be hot and difficult.Great product. Lots of uses. Highly recommend.
