Yes it is provided that the force hitting the door is related to nominal impact. Q: What about car washes, will it stay on the car?

You cannot drive car with it on much less take it through a car wash. It will fall off even in a strong wind.

Q: Will it stay on if it rains?

These door protectors are not for driving. If you park your car in a parking lot and place these magnetic door ding protectors on your car, they will stay on in the rain. I have at times forgot to remove mine and drove to work with them on. They did not fall off.

Probably about 5 inches Works great! Love mine. Has saved my car.
