YES, you can set the correct time to be displayed when you are not playing the games. And a good thing this clock does not talk all day long! There is an Off setting for when you are done playing, but the digital time stays displayed.Also a +... It comes with battries too!

Q: Do both hands move forward and backward?

The small hand; or the hour hand you cannot move it manually, it will move with the minute hand. The minute hand you can move manually both forward and backwards.

Q: Does this have an alarm clock

The digital LCD clock works in real time, but I see no place to set an alarm.
