Q: Can this be used on a porch to keep dog from running in house when door is opened?

Depends on how big your dog is. I got several to keep 2 cats off the furniture. Works very well. I also put 2 together to make a double-wide barrier to prevent the cats from entering the dining room. That also worked well

Q: If I fold this to make it fit where needed, will it alarm? I plan on putting this in my Crib to train my cats to stay out of it

Don't know about folding it, but the noise it makes wasn't enough to affect my dogs. They just ignored it. Instead I bought what someone else suggested: a roll of plastic carpet protector....turn it upside down with the spikey things pointed up and my dogs stayed off.

Q: Would this work to train a cat to stop jumping onto the kitchen counter?

Hi there,We don't have cats, but my little Yorkies scatter every time they try to jump on our sofa. It works! We even put one at the foot of their baby gate to keep them from trying to go under it. That works, too. When touched, the mat sounds like a smoke detector chirping when the battery needs to be changed. It's a great value at $20. We purchased two of them & we are pretty happy with them. I hope it works for you, too. I should mention our dogs are 10 & 11 yrs. of age so I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks after all! Best wishes, Annie
