Subnautica: Below Zero - Playstation 4

Wish I did some research before buying ...
I loved the first Subnautica game. Easily one of my favourite game in the last few years. So when I seen Below Zero available I bought it without thinking, expecting at worst more of the same - which would still be great. But straight from the beginning I could see something was off. And things just got worst and worst as the game progressed.Gone the sensation of exploration in often dangerous and oppressing yet beautiful environments. The game hold you hand A LOT, to the point of becoming insulting. You are not really just left to figure out by yourself what to do and what happened, instead most of the time you have a clear objective just told to you, do this, go there, do that, following a much more narrated story. Which I could maybe get on board with if the story and characters were not SO BAD and so illogical to a fault. I won't enter in the details here, look on YouTube for this, but what I would say is that it is very difficult to forget about the story and unlikeable/ilogical characters when they can't stop talking all the time. The main character also brilliantly succeed in becoming extremely unlikeable from the first few minutes of gameplay with its non stop self chatter and incredible plain stupidity. Its a scientist, going on a frozen and dangerous planet, without any plan other than crashing on the surface, or bringing with her any basic survival equipment. I put more planning in taking the bus across my city ! This is just an example how the story and characters make no sense what so ever straight from the 1st minute of game. And ho my gosh trust me he gets worst later in the game, without spoiling anything. The gameplay is also a massive step back from the first game. First the map is much much smaller, which again could be ok if only it was a good quality. Sadly it is not. a quarter of this map is on the surface North Pole like environment with very little to it. Under the sea half of it is mostly empty and the other half is made of maybe 3 or 4 very distinctive biomes and lot of caves. With a lot less of dangerous creatures, very little pitch black areas, and o2 plants everywhere making the little there is to see trivial to explore.I am actually struggling a single point in this game that is not a step back from the first game. And it is a massive shame because said first game was so good. Very disappointed ! I don't think I ll finish this game, in fact it will be back on sell to try and recover a chunk of the money I lost on it.

Game CD appears to be loose in sealed packet (it's a gift so can't open)
Bought this as a gift for my nephew's birthday this weekend. Upon opening the brown cardboard packet and looking at the sealed packed game it is obvious that the game CD is loose and moving around in the packet. I am hoping this does not cause the game to be scratched and unplayable.I will be giving this to my nephew on Sunday and he can check it. If it works great, I wil increase my score. If it is scratched and/or broken I will be returning it.As for actual delivery time - it was delivered in time, and the game/box appears to be in good condition (excluding loose game in box which I can check until gift is given and opened).

Really well made - shame it’s short
Truly superb game series. Yes this second title is somewhat lacking in ideas, but carries over loads of great stuff.Unfortunately if you’ve played the first one, this one will probably be over quickly. The map doesn’t feel huge. You’re thrown into the danger waters quickly. You’ll find the items fast and easily - they replenish often. The materials are plentiful, so not a challenge. But on the plus side the game works. It’s a proper title that’s nearly polished. Just the odd bug here and there that’s not a game breaker; no different to the AAA titles. The mechanics are smooth; controls really good; graphics pleasant. Sounds also peaceful. It’s a very easy game to pick up and play.If only there was DLC or the game were to be x2 as big.

NB: THIS IS NOT LIKE SUBNAUTICA!!
Below Zero as it's name suggests is set partly underwater in a very cold place. Don't make the mistake of thinking it's a follow on from Subnautica though. If you do, you'll be disappointed. It's it's own game, with it's own story to tell. A little bit smaller but I enjoyed it a lot.

Great adventure/mistery game.
Brilliant game, lots to do & find. Fanrastic survival experience. Amazing graphics, good follow up to Below Zero 1st game.Highly recommended if you like exploring & dodging dangerous undersea creatures, good story line.
