I didn't bother reading the instructions (I never do) before using the probe. It worked great. Afterward, I soaked the probe to clean it. oops. Water wicked into the probe and screwed its impedance, and now the probe read 187^F at room temperature. On a hunch, I put the bare probe back into the oven and heated it to 350^F (well above boiling) and baked it for 15 minutes. The high temp baked out the moisture and now the probe works fine again. I don't intend to repeat that fix. doh!

While it did a good job on reporting the temperature of my ham, the issue I have is how this thing was advertised. It has magnets for keeping it out of the way, by attaching to your oven door or what have you. So, I stuck it to the side of my roaster oven as I was cooking. and didnt realize it had melted and stuck to the side of my roaster until it was too late. What a mess.

This thermometer is perfect for my application. My smoker or grille remains closed now during the cooking process which diminishes the cooking time and alleviates all guess work. A great addition to my arsenal of cooking supplies. HIGHLY recommend..

Transformed the way I cook meat. Excellent little product at an excellent price. Highly recommend it - especially for those critical holiday meals with the family.

So far so good.I've only used it once for brewing beer, but it held up. Love that it comes with an extra probe.If you don't see an update to this review, it means the unit is still working.Two (very) minor cons:The stand that comes with the unit is fine, but would have been nicer if it was built in (like a kickstand)Programming it is very easy, but not particularly intuitive. Best to hang on to the instructions.For those confused:To program a custom temperature, cycle to the PROG setting and then hold down the button on the right. This lets you use the other two buttons to raise/lower the set temp.

The touch screen takes a little getting used to. Isn't as sensitive as a smart phone, but it's still good and gets the job done.

Put it on the fridge many times and would always slide a bit, but catch itself. Well, one time it slid all the way to the floor and hit the floor. Since then, I've been getting an error sign. Tried many things to remediate without success. Going to return it
