What size umbrella does it hold?

No standardized diameter for umbrella poles. It does come with a plastic insert of a smaller diameter, larger diameter you can just leave it out. I’m not sure of the exact size.

What size boat seat shaft does this fit?

It is adjustable at the connection to the seat shaft and will fit a variety of shaft diameters. Estimate: 1 3/8 Inches to 2 inches, maybe a little larger. Note: their new design no longer fits around the shaft like a sleeve but is a two piece clamp that can be expanded to fit the size of the shaft. Picture on the web site, as shown here, and on Amazon is the older design, new design is more flexible and functions superbly on most shaft diameters. Super investment, very sturdy, work’s perfectly!
