I purchased this book for a couple that's getting married. Since I am marrying them I feel the responsibility for the couple to at least know their personalities. This book was recommended to me by my mentor has been life changing for me. And help me to better understand my husband and the way that he behaves. Realizing that as part of his personality helps you to better understand. And most of all it helps you both to get along with each other in a more peaceful manner. I highly recommend this book to any couple. As well as the books about children's personalities. And as a person that single as well. That wants to be prepared for any kind of a relationship. And even as a manager it definitely helps you to understand your coworkers a lot better.

Not only that, but helped me deal with the in-laws/out-laws. Everyone should read one of Littauer's personality books- this one or any of them. This was recommended to me at the lowest point of our marriage, about the ten year point, when I began to think every negative thing my parents had said about my husband was true. Perhaps they had a point, but all the reasons I fell in love with him were still there, only the stress and pain made them difficult to remember. The author is a hoot and tells many personal stories to illustrate the personality types. As I was reading I had many "ah-ha moments". I enjoy and appreciate all personalities now and have a clear warning for those who might make my life unpleasant. This really helped me to be accepting of myself and everyone I know. I have had all my children read it, and personality is a part of our daily conversation. We will be celebrating our 23rd anniversary in June and are the best of friends, and more in love than the day we said, "I do."

I've long thought that certain personality types just weren't getting the big picture and could benefit from therapy if they had the wisdom to seek it out. Florence Littauer draws on observations of human social types that goes back to Galen but goes on to make the point that we humans are each other's therapy if we can hear the voice of God within calling us to change. How? By attracting us naturally to our opposites, then allowing us to get thoroughly aggravated with the very things we loved. She profiles each type (Choleric, Sanguine, Melancholy, Phlegmatic) and reveals the fear motive behind each characteristic behavior. Then she tells us how we from the other aspects can encourage confidence. A call to mutual self-transformation if we can recognize and embrace it. I'm using what I've learned in a relationship that has irritated me for years -- with great results!

This book helped me to not just to understand different personality types much better, but more importantly, how to meet the emotional needs of each type. It may be written from a Christian perspective with some Christian references, but the intelligent would be wise to see that the material in the book comes from empirical science and without a doubt will help anyone, irregardless of their faith, to tend to what I think is the most important thing we have in life - Our relationships. And not just limited to the realm of romantic ones.

This book introduced me to the 4 different personalities and I'm blown away. It has helped my marriage and overall attitude towards everyone around me. My husband understands me now and we can work through our differences instead of blaming each other for them. thanks Mrs Littauer! this book is easy to read and has plenty of nice charts. I let all my coworkers take the test and we enjoy categorizing all our strengths/weaknesses as they are revealed on a daily basis into one of our respective personalities. i ordered a copy for all my family members because I think it's so important to understand that we are the way we are due to genes and not conscious choice; we can finally stop the blame game and move forward and respect each other's strengths.

I love this book I have been reading and sharing for many years, I’m 65.Really helps you understand people, kids, husband. Help you to know maybe why we are the way we are.I highly recommend this book.

I recommend this for those considering marriage, newly married, and any with tension in their communication. This book gives a simple, yet profound way of understanding yourself and your spouse, and gives insight on why your personality has clashes with your spouses. Understanding goes a long way to giving one another grace, and to valuing the differences rather than despising them.

I'd taken a personality test before, but wanted to learn more about my personality and my boyfriend's personality. This book has a very helpful test that both people can take and clear descriptions of personalities that make it easy to identify which personality you are. It's helpful to read it with your significant other so you can both learn that while you each do things differently, that doesn't mean you are wrong or right - just different. It gives helpful stories from other couples that allow you to identify how to deal with situations that may arise in a relationship. I found this book very helpful and would recommend it to all couples!

My husband and I are two very different personalities and have had many conflicts throughout our marriage. Understanding the different personalities helps you to realise that the other person is not just annoying or out to get you, they are coming from a totally different perspective that you didn't even dream of, because if you said what they said, it wouldn't mean what it means coming from them! Everybody subconsciously assumes that other people react the same way as they do and this book shows how that assumption is wrong, in a very easy to read format with lots of laughs throughout. It gives you the ability to enjoy each other's strengths and help each other's weaknesses without resentment or bitterness.

This is a fantastic life tool. It is easy to use and understand. Quick test and quick results to help you discover more about yourself and those in your life. It doesn’t excuse behavior but explains it. It’s a great wedding gift.

Good food for thought! It basically classifies the human nature/ personality into 4 types. It helps you identify your inherit personality type and of your spouse. It talks about typical circumstances where couples tend to clash like finances, chores, children upbringing etc. and explains how on account of differences in personality how different couples react during these clashes and how to resolve the clashes keeping the same differences in personality in mind. Most importantly the book talks about accepting each ones (including yourself) nature and behavior and working around it to achieve happiness in life.
