Nice slim design
Surprisingly the gauge of metal is thin, but the build makes is solid, as it complements the Peerless extension bar that screws into it. The design is great and comes with a grommeted hole for cables to pass through. As you can zoom in to see, I had to remove drywall on the "yuck" cieling to insert blocking for a robust projector. The plate holds well

Super sturdy and easy to mount
Super sturdy and easy to mount. Just be sure to mount it to an actual rafter for proper support of your projector. I used this in conjunction with the Peerless Adjustable Ext Column. They work great together.

Overall looks professional, sub-standard hardware to mount
Bought this in black and spray painted it a flat white to match the mount from Peerless. This saved time and money in obtaining the joist mount.Pros: Quality, durable build. Looks professional. Able to run cords through the build in hole through the ceiling. Pairs well with other Peerless extension and projector mount.Cons: Screws are not quality and will strip easily. More holes in the mount than shown in the picture (4 instead of 2).Overall this is a quality product that matches well and works seamlessly with the other Peerless products, however the hardware they give you to mount the product does not match the quality of the main mount.

Easy to use and a nice finishing touch
This flange was part of the final set of hardware I used to finish off my DIY home theater install. The flange is designed so that you can use a piece of 1.5" NPT threaded pipe (also called generically "black pipe") to provide the required drop from a ceiling to the level where you want to mount a projector. NOTE: you will have to purchase a mount for your projector that uses that same 1.5" NPT interface (I used this: "Peerless PRGUNV Precision Gear Universal Projector Mount - Black" also purchased on Amazon). To use this flange you have to be able to use the supplied lag bolts to secure it to your ceiling joists. For me this meant crawling into the attic and securing 2x4 "cripples" between a couple of ceiling joists. Another Note: try not to do this on a 90 degree summer day - learn from my mistake. Once I had the cripples installed and pre-drilled for the lag bolts the installation went smoothly. One thing that may or may not be important for you: you will see that there is an access hole on the slanted art of the flange. I used this so that I could feed an AC cord down to my projector. Peerless thoughtfully supplies a rubber grommet for this opening so that your cords don't get abraded. With the flange I received a part of the metal fabrication stuck out into the opening. This meant that I had to do some field surgery on the grommet to make it fit properly. It wasn't a big deal and 2 minutes with my small wire cutters did the trick.

This is excellent and I was pleased with the quality
This is excellent and I was pleased with the quality. This joist mount allowed me to safely and securely mount my Sony HW40ES, with peerless mount, to the center of a single stud in my flat black, exposed ceiling (blending in nicely).

Very happy with purchase
When combined with Peerless projector mount and adjustable column, this creates a very heavy duty / professional grade projector mounting system. Very happy with purchase.

This thing is solid. Was overkill for my 5lb acer 6510bd. Second the remarks on grommet being unusable. I'd further add that the install encourages you (rightly) to run cables down the pipe/center hole, thereby making the second cord hole useless. Just mounted that to front and not a big deal. Perhaps there's a scenario where you'd not want to use the pipe. It is nice and neat using the pipe though.

Quick Installation
Needed a way to ceiling mount a peerless system for my NEC projector. Measured out my joists and used the included hardware to install. Used additional drywall anchors for the opposite two holes. Not sure on the specific weight rating but, after attaching to the joists, it wasn't going anywhere. This was the easiest part of my home theater install.
