Since purchasing this book I wasn't sure what the outcome would be keeping the attention but it was insightful and well written. We use this had in hand with the High Frequency words booklet as well. We had no problem engaging and encouraging, Even her penmanship has gotten better

Great book for learning minds. Gives kids some repetitive words to get their sight word memory stronger. I feel like this book is a little more advanced than what he's learning in school.... Which is awesome to me. I definitely recommend it as an added supplement.

So glad to have something for my granddaughters while they are out of school for so long!

I'm a teacher and love this book. I had a few students that struggled with writing this book was a great motivator for my kids. It starts very basic and it slowly challenges students. I really recommend it for classroom teacher and parents.

The goal of this workbook is quite simple: At the end of 36 weeks to teach a child how to write a 5 to 6 sentence paragraph, (which some may assert is a little advanced or ambitious for kindergarten).First, it introduces the concepts of Who? What? When? Where? and Events. It then introduces, the concept that every paragraph needs an introduction or topic sentence. The child is asked to under line the sentence that is the introduction or the beginning. Events and details of the Paragraph are important. The workbook introduces this concept in a few ways: (i) ask the child to look at a picture and circle the details, or (ii) draw a picture and add details or (ii) underline the details or events in the paragraph. Finally, the workbook teaches the child about conclusions or closing sentences. While doing the above, the workbook also reinforces and has exercises for punctuation.All concepts are introduced slowly. There is enough repetition in the book, that while the average 5-6 year old child may struggle for the first few weeks, it it will become clearer and easier towards the middle of the book. The trick is to keep working. And by the end of the book, the child should begin to understand how to write a short, simple (if not dull) paragraph. your child will not be an expert, but very prepared for first grade writing.I loved this workbook; this is one of the better books from this series. I would have given this book four or five stars. However, I gave it three stars since it lacked instructions on the best way(s) to use the workbook. Parents who are not strong writers, may not initially understand what the workbook is attempting to do, and how the workbook is attempting to teach the child how to write. Notwithstanding, unless your kindergartner is above average, the parent needs to work with, if not teach the child. This is not a book that the average child can initially do without parental assistance, but it is well worth the effort.
