A Throne of Ruin (Deliciously Dark Fairytales - B&tB)

A fresh, new take on the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. I loved the characters most of all, they stood out and made me cheer and laugh. A treat to read!

I really enjoy the story and the magic. Some of it isn’t explained well enough I feel like to give a full picture though. Some parts of the story move slowly and some parts move way too fast. That left me feeling a little choppy as I read it, I enjoyed how we got to see more of this kingdom and the villages. We also got a look into what life is like in the other villages. I will definitely go onto the next book as I am excited to see what happens next. The spice in this book was really good. I felt like it had a mix of things and kept certain bedroom activities, realistic, without losing the sex appeal. Oh, another thing I noticed a lot was when odd words showed up in pairings. Meaning that something would be described in a specific way, and then a paragraph something else would be described in a verbatim manner, and it was just odd to have the freezing so close together. And I noticed that a lot with many different phrases. Just a weird thing I noticed.

I don’t mind a little bit of spice, but this was overkill. It’s not even like you can swipe the page, because it’s in random dialogue. and it’s gross, M/M, M/M/M/F, etc.Good story line, likable heroine but she’s very low class and her vocabulary is extremely crude.Had the author toned it down about this would be a phenomenal read that I’d recommend to everyone. However, I just don’t want people to think I’m ok with this sort of speech or the spice, so I won’t be recommending this to anyone.

Loved this book, the first one was great but this one, ugh, this one was so much more. I was tearing up during this book is was so good. The feels were all over the place, the tension, the sex! All was top notch and super sexy as hell. The relationship growing between Nyfain and Finley grew so much and at such a good pace I just loved it, I am so worried about what will happen to them! This book when I finished wouldn't leave my brain. It's amazing, funny, sassy, action packed but most of all this book was focused on what could be for our two love birds. It lead the way for the cliffhanger and continuation into the third book which, gasp, nothing too awful better happen to finley! Read this book right now, if you don't like all the sex I would say you would have learned that by reading the first one and if not there is tons of sex in this, but I thought it was great.

I will say, the sex and such did get distracting. It began to take away from the overall story, though it was pretty hot and steamy at times. There was just a lot of it. Personally, I like more story and I get it, once you start introducing sex, it’s like one upping yourself from that point on to keep things going. Still, I liked it enough to finish and I’ll try the next one out to see where it goes. The story is still interesting enough for that.

Wow. I've got a lot to process in this second installment. Forgive me in advance if I seem to have disjointed thoughts because I have many, too many thoughts running through my mind. Ill attempt to set them straight.First and foremost this is 100% Breene. I'm a huge fan of her illegal creative mind. Her imagination, quick wit and sharp mind give her writing style a wicked and beautiful edge. Seriously, her stories can take you hostage. In their uniqueness and authenticity. No one can weave a tale like she can. Its impossible to foretell all that she'll write and where her mind will take us. Yet, she leaves enough clues to keep us guessing. She is amazing like that.Now for the story itself, the true underlying love story of Finley and Nyfain is lovely. It's torment, longing and desperation but at a very visceral level. They are so tragic and so beautiful together. Its impossible to not fall in love with them. You want the curse broken, the kingdoms freed, the shifters to shift, Finley to bust heads and be snarky, Nyfain to fly and a prince to be a king. Its all there. Its worth reading.Now the other element in Breene's story...the explicit sex. For those of us who have read several or all of her works, we know her. We know she can unleash crazy like no other and she has the wicked imagination to do it. She has never written anything like this before when it comes to the in your face porn. Yes as a long time fan that's what I'm describing it as. I know she told us her fans she was going to to a Beauty and the Beast retelling with "heat". I also know she asked her fans for what kind and how much heat they wanted. That said, she left the door wide open. She listened and she delivered. As a fan that likes heat and steam in stories I can honestly say there was a lot of "other" I didn't like. The straight up porn and vulgar sexual scenes with multiple players of any and all were not necessary or wanted. She did give what ALL her fans wanted. With that in mind I read the whole story. The basic story of Nyfain and Finley I love. All the demon sexual crazy, weird, and gross was skimmed over. I stopped frequently (taking reading breaks) to clear some of those skimmed visuals away. To keep the main storyline in focus. It took me a couple of months to get through. I knew she warned us, I knew there were other fans without limits and I know she can write a good story. What she calls "pearl clutching" I'd say is under representing the full onslaught of sexual situations in this story. I also don't think all of that was needed for this story, but it was given to requesting fans and we were warned. I also learned that when she says she didn't hold back, I now know where her writing limits are. There are none. She will write whatever and however and apparently I do have limits. In the future I'll respectfully decline from any new series with erotic/porn warnings. As for this series I will finish it but with skimming over those darker sexual scenes I don't need the detail of to enjoy this story. She is still my favorite author.

I absolutely LOVE these books!! I have now finished the series. The story flows so well I was on the last book before I knew it. The spice level in these book are off the charts.🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶!!! And the humor... There were times I laughed so hard my abs were sore.Sure if you have triggers, definitely check the trigger warnings for these books. If your are unable to distinguish between fantasy and reality you might have issues. Other than that, set back, HANG ON😜, and enjoy the ride.KFB is my new favourite author. Really do hope she keeps building on the world and the different characters. I'm Invested.

Great story and writing. I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn’t even have to clutch too many pearls.

Ok,I'm a huge fan of fantasy and dark fantasy (and spicy fantasy as well). And this series combines all of them.The story is brilliant, there's love, darkness, blood, plots I didn't see coming, and I'm just longing to know how it will ends.I read a LOTS of book, around a hundred each year (with some re-read), in a large variety of styles (thriller, horror, fantasy, fantastic, and so on). I'm not a huge fan of romance, except when the plot is good, fresh, new (and at leasr a little kinky, i'm honnest).This series combines all my favs. Can't wait to read the next one. And since I've discovered this series throught the kindle rent, i'll buy them to make sure they're always in my library.

Oh my gosh! That was funny, exciting, romantic, adventurous, thrilling, sexy and angst all at once. I WANT MORE !! 😍🐉Finley and Nyfain ( love the names btw.. they're so unique! ) are in a kind of star-crossed lovers situation. But ladies and gentlemen, even the stars are not powerful enough to keep these two stubborn mates apart. ( See what I did there? I channelled crazy Finley 😂) So, without much further ado ( and I really can't write a long review because I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! ) let the finale begin!!🌹P.S. - I definitely getting the paperbacks once I'm through reading. 😍

Okay...yes you need book one to understand how the kingdom works but book 2 is my new favourite. Its basically the beast wooing the Beauty and... Wow... Yep... Totally wooed me! You get to know the "beast"/Prince and everything is not as it seems. He's overbearing, demanding and head over heels in lust. She's not taking any of his crap and calls him out of his antiquated ways, his misogyny and lack of effort. He's been fighting the good fight for a long time. So it's going to get wild when these two clash... And boy do they "clash".The characters are snarky and hardened by a life, stuck in shitty towns & castles, with a curse suppressing them all. There is class warfare, romance, hints of rough play, lots of spicy things, books and amazing library (honestly the best thing about the beauty and the beast movie was his amazing library)... And the side characters provide enough fun, sass and comedy to make it worth it.Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and a half/5 (smut is 5/5).Characters: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5Plot: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5It has good twists and turns, a little bit of mystery, some awesome schemes, a good lot of gardening and some power play.Well worth a read if you are into Beauty and the beast story lines, class romances, Shifters, deep romance, mates, sword fights, demons, healing, dress ups, supernatural occurances, and so much more... Runs off to get book 3!

I really loved this book. After the first one, I wasn't so sure, but there were too many good foundations built that I had to give the second book a go! I'm so glad I did. It even made me appreciate the first book more. Creating a good story with a slow burn that turned into a bonfire. I appreciate that more now.Definitely waiting with baited breath for BOOK 3!
