Dear Wormwood Bone & Beer

If you like folk, bluegrass, Irish, singer/songwriter style music, you'll enjoy this group. I gave this CD to my husband for Christmas and it's our new favorite. I couldn't give it a 5-star because the sound mix could be improved...the vocals are too far back on a few of the songs. Don't let that stop you though, this brother sister duo are GREAT!

This album tells a story of one ensnared by something that seems beautiful, but burns and brings death, and of a being freed from that. The first time I listened to the album I had to look up some of the lyrics because they just rang with such a forcefulness--"I know who you are now, and all that you made of me...I know who you are now, I name you my enemy! I know who I am now, I know who I want to be. I want to be more than this devil inside of me." Anyway, so after listening to the entire album again, and a week later, I decided to buy it.That was a while back. Now I have incorporated some of the songs into some of my playlists and that is lovely, but I also love going back to this album and just listening to it straight through, because it does tell a story; and as powerful or beautiful or amazing as each song is, it gains even more strength and beauty in context.

I love it. Even better than Through the Deep, Dark Valley -- as great as that album is. The Oh Hellos aren't just "another Mumford" -- they really write unique stuff.

We love music. All kinds of music. We buy a lot of music, and see a lot of live shows. This album has been one of our favorite the last months. Their live show was also fantastic. Give it a listen, it won't disappoint!

These people are great. Nothing is quite as good as their "Family Christmas Album", which is simply transcendental. But there are gems and moments of beauty liberally sprinkled over all the music they make. Can't wait for the next one.

Oh Hellos are not your usual band-- thoughtful, intellectually, well done music. My husband who is a professor wasn't as drawn to the music as I was-- I think he was trying too hard to connect it to CS Lewis.

The Oh Hellos have a full sound and can go between soulful ballads and joyful jigs with ease. Siblings singing together never fail to disappoint.

I was roaming around S P O T I F Y (hopefully that will get past the computer censors), and found this group and this album. I like folk, I like pop, I like roots and I like this. The first three songs run into each other so of like the start of Matthew Sweet's best album, In Reverse (1999). Look forward to more from them, but as my car has a CD player - I bought some hard copy to play there. Love the second song the most.
