2012 Toyota Highlander
This review applies to a 2012 Toyota Highlander Base Model, no factory navigation or JBL sound system and is intended for owners of this vehicle only. So please don't ask me about other applications because quite simply I won't know the answer.I purchased a new upgraded Radio/Audio Head unit from a well known seller that has been in this business from the 70's. I wanted to use the original rear view camera with the new unit and retain the small upper information screen with the backup display and all the other vehicle information. This harness does that perfectly. One end plugs into the factory harness, the other end plugs into the factory display. The yellow RCA video plug is then plugged into the Rear View input of the new radio/head unit. So far, so simple. The orange smaller wire with the tag "BACK" is the "trigger" wire as per the instructions on the manufacturer's website (easy to find using your friend Google). The trigger wire in the new radio harness energizes when the shift lever is moved into Reverse, same as the original setup. Find the trigger wire using the wire diagram supplied by the radio seller and connect the two. You will now have the rear view on the new radio display screen and the old smaller display screen as well, I've attached a photo. It's that simple. If you don't know how to do what I described, find a buddy who does or take it to a professional installer. This harness is the perfect solution to do what I described above!

2012 Highlander non JBL worked perfectly for both screens
Used this in a 2012 Highlander non JBL system with stock back up camera. Was easy, just pulled the harness off the factory screen, plugged this in , plugged the yellow wire into my new head unit, and wired one wire to the camera wire on the head unit . Both the stock screen and the new head unit display the image.

Poor image
This harness does work somewhat in that the OE back up camera works on a aftermarket radio. The issue is that the image quality is awful and full of lines. Look for a different brand with a 6 volt converter.

Worked perfectly but ...
This worked exactly as claimed on my 2012 Highlander, connecting my old backup cam to a new Android radio head unit. However, the resolution and noise, especially in darkness, was bad on my 13 year old cam so I replaced it with a exact fit aftermarket cam. Although not HD this was a huge improvement without wiring in a all-new camera.

Works great as an alternative to running miles of wire.
My mother complained of the screen size on her 2012 Highlander so we opted to upgrade her system to an Android based 10" screen radio. This made easy work of getting a rear video feed. I will warn though the resolution on the factory Toyota camera SUCKS and will leave you desiring better.

Doesn't work for displaying on both MFD and head unit
Shipped quickly (2 days) and arrived in good condition. I bought it for the factory reversing camera on my Toyota Highlander 2012 and connecting to a new navigation unit.I wanted my camera image to show up both in the MFD unit and the navigation unit. However this unit looks like its made to project the image only in the navigation unit (its missing couple of wires to take the image data to the MFD unit. I thought to return it but ultimately decided to use the RCA cable from this and splice it in.

Key to make ORM camera working
Bought this adapter to pull out the backup camera signals from MDF and connect to aftermarket radio. Easy to install and no need to worry about the wiring.

Works but still not worth it
Turns out the OEM camera really sicks on a larger screen.
