Good Family Crime Saga
An interesting story of a family that makes a business of robbing banks. Good technical detail. I thought the pace of the story was a little slow. There is a lot of time spent developing the puzzling family dynamic between father and sons. Be sure you read the interview with the author at the end.Good, but not a page turner.

After 2 chapters I went out and brought this book and loved it! the realism
I took this book out of the local library, read a few pages and the graphic violence was so disturbing that I returned it without going any further. After 1 month without a thought about this book I spent several days trying to remember the title and authors. When I came up with the title and authors, I took it out started the book again. After 2 chapters I went out and brought this book and loved it! the realism, content and writing are great. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves realism, and excellently written novel.

Great book.
Excellent book. Highly recomended. I read all Roslund and Hellstrom books. Their description of the Swedish society breaks the myth of ablonde and beautiful perfect society. Well done!!!

Worth a read
An enjoyable read, but not so gripping that I had to read it straight away. I found it a little ponderous at times, but also fascinating from the perspective of how one man's failure as a father can have such profound consequences.

The Father: Made in Sweden - Part 1
This novel is based upon a true story and centres around three brothers, plus their childhood friend, who become bank robbers; plus the detective who is hunting them. The book switches viewpoint between, ‘then’ and ‘now,’ unveiling a tragic tale of domestic violence and of a father who overshadows the lives of Leo, Felix and Vincent. Like the brothers, detective John Broncks, comes from a similar background and, like them, domestic violence erupted in family tragedy. It is clear, from the beginning, that this is no ordinary crime novel – yet, a crime novel is precisely what it is. Leo involves Felix, Vincent and childhood friend Jasper, in undertaking breathtaking robberies; planned with precision, undertaken with nerve and with a long term plan of becoming financially independent. However, eventually, the initial euphoria of success, gradually begins to unravel. Leo’s relationship with his girlfriend comes under strain, Jasper is all too aware that he does not share the bonds of the three brothers and Leo cannot resist getting back in contact with the father who has overshadowed his life…I found this a very moving, immersive and interesting book – made more so when you discover who the co-author of this novel is. John Broncks adds an almost mirror image of eldest brother, Leo. A man who has struggled with many of the same demons and whose understanding gives the storyline an extra dimension. Meanwhile, the shadow of the father – Ivan – falls across every page. As the men plan more and more audacious robberies, tension builds and relationships are tested. This really is a unique novel. As well as being an interesting personal read, it would be a good choice for book groups, with much to discuss. Lastly, I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, for review.

Does it get any better ?
For me this is a very very powerful book. First of all considered as a straight forward thriller I would give it my maximum mark. The quality of the writing and ther book's structure, could hardly be improved upon and I'm not surprised it took two authors with proven skills a couple of years to produce.Incidentally the translation into English also rates a maximum mark, as good as I've ever experienced. Its a thriller because being British I was unaware of the eventual outcome, and had found it gripping enough (as did other reviewers) to be rooting for both the police (especially the fictional prime investigator , John Broncks ) and for the criminals. Just read as a crime thriller i would give it 5 stars. In addition as a parallel story of domestic abuse and its effects on the victims I would also give this novel five stars. The fact that one of the authors was a witness to much of the abuse that took place gives what happens a chilling reality that a purely fictional accoumt would struggle to replicate. I'm a pretty hardened old bastard who had a fairly rough childhood but at times I just had to stop reading for a while. These two strands of criminality and abuse are almost perfectly woven together as a story of human relationships that for me at least approaches perfection and is totally convincing. Obviously this would not be true were the dialog between characters not also spot on and totally convincing. In a novel ,unlike acted drama , the characters thoughts are revealed and also have to be totally convincing, along with the spoken dialog. In my opinion this was also pretty near perfect. And then most staggering of all, its largely a true story. In fact I suspect that what is written in the book could be more true than what actually happened, and where it isn't it sheds additional light on domestic abuse and human relationships especially within families.I see some fool has given the book one star and the comment"....boring...". Never rely on anyone's review--it could be written by this fool.

Made in Sweden
Fantastic book. Very strong story, well written, intriguing and driven. It seems anything made in Sweden is excellent- this book, Wallander, a few ex-girlfriends and Volvos! Of all of these, I highly recommend this book!
