Perfect Intro to Galapagos
“Island: A Story of the Galápagos” takes the reader back on an evolutionary journey through time to 6 million years ago to a nascent Galápagos, when it was still a smattering of erupting volcanoes, to its first flora and fauna inhabitants, to the Galápagos Islands as we know today.Beautifully detailed illustrations. It is a great piece to introduce evolution to a young audience and is to be reread again and again.Further talking points: endemic species, flora & fauna, evolution, volcanoes, natural selection, island formation, species colonization, etc.

Beautiful and Educational
Absolutely stunning work of non-fiction! The book focuses on the story of an island from the eruption of volcanoes to animal and plant inhabitants to evolution and to in sinking back into the sea. Each step in the 6 million year processes is accompanied by breath taking detailed illustrations that will fascinate young readers while they watch the island and animals change. This is a great piece to introduce evolution to a young audience and it ends perfectly segueing into Charles Darwin.

Dishonest description
I reviewed this previosly before looking inside and can't seem to update the old rating. The item was sold as "like new" with further statement saying it's basically brand new and had crisp pages that were unmarked and undamaged. The item I recieved had a cracked and torn spine, scratched, ripped, and dirty cover that had to be wiped down for dirt and while most of the pages were clean and crisp, there were tears. No not advertise and charge for a like new product when this is clearly not like new. A cracked and torn spine and a loose binding is never like new nor is multiple rips and even more noticeably dirty and crinkled pages . Not happy with the dishonesty in just how used this book was. I would have purchased a much cheaper one noted as "used good". The images do not capture how loose the binding is :(

Good but not a fun book
I saw some good reviews of this book somewhere else that’s why I got this. But it isn’t very attractive to my 4 year old.

Great History for Kids.
I recently got back from Galapagos and got this book for my 8 year old grandson. He loved it. It was a bit dis-jointed for my taste, but he loved it. And since this is a kids book, that's all that mattered. Hence the rating.

The best Galapagos book for kids
We live in the Galapagos part time due to my husband's work and this is the ONLY book that I have found that tells the story of these amazing islands to children in a language that is fun and easy for them to understand. We love reading this book at home over and over again. It brings the magic of the islands home when we are so far away. Your kids will love it!

This is a lovely book which I bought to read with a young child to give her an idea of the story of the Galapagos islands. However it is also a brilliant book for an adult to learn this story in an easy, if basic, way. Nice pictures too.

¿11? Yo tengo 39 y a mi m eha convencido.

This is a great book. It explains all the changes these islands have undergone. Very interesting and easy to understand. I am travelling here this coming year, so now I can be a bit more knowledgeable about this area.
