Are there cross members that cross in the middle of the table on the under side?

Yes. This table does not appear to be sturdy, it is! I use mine on our deck, it has withstood high winds and heavy rain. A great little, very cute table for the price.

Is this table more of a charcoal grey?

it's a flat black so a cross between a charcoal grey and flat black.....depends what you are which color you are trying to match.
