Sturdy, well built and YES - Waterproof
I searched for quite a while before choosing this backpack. I had been caught in a downpour, this happens on occasion in Oregon :-) Most of what I was carrying including my laptop got pretty wet. My key criteria was water resistance. The ballistic fiber construction caught my attention. A few reviews I read raised concerns about leakage through the zippers but this product did seem to meet my needs. I held off giving any review until the rain caught outside again. It was bound to happen :-) Inspecting the contents of the pack after the deluge I found no water penetration. Loose papers were not wet. I have been using this for months now and the pack still stays standing by itself. It looks like new still. My usual daily carry is; a light laptop, 3-4 pounds of accessories, 5 or 6 small file folders, three bottles of water, light office supplies, Blue tooth headset, full size music headphones, a collapsible umbrella, and an extra change of clothes. The outer zipper pockets are perfect for a water bottle and my spare glasses case. I feel that there is plenty of room and that the pack is sturdily built. I recommend this for any casual use. I can attest that it DOES keep the water out.

Nice business backpack to carryI bought this laptop backpack for ...
Nice business backpack to carryI bought this laptop backpack for its sleek style, to me the most amazing part is the laptop compartment, my Lenovo Ideapad 15.6 in sits VERY VERY safely in it (you see why from the photo). The shoulder straps are wide and well padded, the thick padding of the handle makes it comfortable to carry, the tall side pockets can fit my CamelBak Chute.60L water bottle pretty well. The wide-open main pocket is massive and easy to organize, it fits tons of stuff, I literally saved hundreds of plastic bag after getting this backpack because each time I carry it into supermarket to put all my purchases into it to save a plastic bag for our planet. The USB charging port will come in handy when I am on the go, it seems well made. I am extremely happy that I made my decision on this Platero backpack, love it!

Love this large, well-made backpack that resists rain!
I love how rugged and big this backpack is. I have a 9th grade boy who is very hard on his backpacks. He walks quite a distance to school each day, and I wanted a backpack that would be large enough to fit everything he takes to school, be well-made, and resist rain. This backpack is the the thickest and most well-made backpack I've seen. We usually get backpacks from Lands End, and while those are nice, the material on this is much thicker, and the zippers are more substantial as well. He doesn't currently carry a laptop, but this pack has a cushioned compartment made for one, and I know it will fit (with everything else) when he starts carrying one. I highly recommend this backpack!

which was more than what I was looking for as wanted it more business like. Bought mainly because of the padded laptop compartment
Just got it for Chistmas so havenโt had a chance to use it. Seems very heavy duty material, which was more than what I was looking for as wanted it more business like. Bought mainly because of the padded laptop compartment. Will be returning as all the logos on the packback we put upside down

Absolutely love this laptop backpack
Absolutely love this laptop backpack. I bought it for my son to transport his 17.5" laptop I just spent an arm and a leg for and I couldn't be happier. It has so many extra pockets and the slot where the laptop fits in is great. It has a great amount of padding to keep it safe from any harm. The entire backpack is just very sturdy overall. I really like the addition of the outside USB port, great idea. Also, great padding area for the back. Best laptop backpack I've came across

A heavy duty laptop backpack
This is a large and solidly constructed backpack with plenty of pockets that will keep your laptop safe. However, it is not waterproof since the double zippers do not close completely and the media port is an upward facing hole that can leak water into the main compartment.

Not Waterproof at all!
I bought this bag because of the claim that it was waterproof. I had already sent a bookbag back to another manufacturer claiming the same thing and not delivering on it. This bag was waterproof for the first 6 months but one day, after pouring rain, I noticed that the contents were a little wet. Now, after some rain, all my papers inside become damp! I am glad I never put my laptop in it. I think I will get a Swiss Army bag. I have not found any of the lower priced bags dependable when they claim to be waterproof/water repellent.
