Great system to capture the atmosphere of the books/movies
Great system, nice book. Really liked the art. The organization could be better, but that's par for the course with TTRPG core books.I ran a one-shot for a friend's birthday, and they all loved the atmosphere and the system. The rules are fairly intuitive and easy to pick up. A couple rules are fiddly and overly designed, but it's an easy fix if you're an experienced DM.

High-quality book, seems like the game would be great too.
I have not had a chance to play this game, so this is going to be my thoughts on the book and how the game is presented, not the gameplay. The binding, art, etc are all great. It even has a ribbon for keeping your place, which is a nice touch. The game itself is a little complex, but not more so than Dungeons and Dragons. It's well-situated in the world of the Lord of the Rings, and everything feels like it belongs there. However, I think they may have gone a little far in the use of quotes from the book in some cases. There's a letter from Gandalf at the beginning that includes the "follow your nose" quote, I think, and that's a little cringe for me.Having an adventure phase and downtime phase works very well for me. I like the rules for Journeying especially, since travel is such a key part of Tolkien's stories, and such a hard thing to get right in other RPGs.

Excellent quality, both written and book binding.
I have enjoyed exploring this book.the system is easy to pick up,it has basic character options, but there's lots of diversity.you could make six characters and not have the same one twice.a little bit short on adversaries.in this case less is more.the creature generation system is pretty cool.background material on Tolkien's world is accurate, has planty of adventure hooks.the combat system is brutal.murder hobos beware.the system focuses on actually roleplaying and creating a viable background,if in the event you get into combat be ready cause this is gonna hurt...your character.simple and logical explanation of how your character could and without fore thought fall to shadow becoming a gm npc.awsome details and world building stuff.im actually having fun learning this system.definitly getting the rest of the material that free league has published thus far.👍

Excellent Book!
This product is well made. The pages are of a thicker quality, the layout is done very well. This is beyond the “text book” type quality of other rpg books. Great artwork as well! Cannot wait to learn the game!

Play. This. Game.
The One Ring is a roleplaying game. A fantastic roleplaying game. With sensible (and surprisingly crunchy-ish) rules. You can play an entire campaign that has nothing to do with Frodo's quest. You can play an entire campaign that has everything to do with Frodo's quest. The choice is yours. The Tolkien Estate will not break down your door for playing out a fictional adventure in Middle-earth that may, or may not, change the events that take place in The Lord of the Rings. Do yourself a favor and PLAY. THIS. GAME.

I Love the Book, free publishing did and amazing job, the shipping needs work
This book is written with passion for the Tolkien universe and I cannot recomend it enough, the pages and drawings look straight out of one of Bilbo's field guides, or his own personal stories like There and Back Again. My only complaint is that amazon needs to be more careful in their shipping, the corners of my book arrived damaged. I don't believe it was the fault of the driver, it just needed proper packaging.
