Cuts accurately after tuning & calibration
This is a lightweight, small saw. It cuts up to 1 inch. There's no apparent advantage over a regular sized saw - other than saving some space. The table and saw assembly are solid and precise. The motor is adequate for the size. The included utensils are not accurate.Let me explain the shortcomings and how to fix them. The fence assembly was off by 1 degree (bent back into shape easily). The fence has two fastening mechanisms, a screw and a clamp. The screw is useless (off by a few degrees and not repeatable). The clamp is better, but still not precise enough for rip cuts. I built a custom fence and am happy now.The attached measuring scale is useless and mostly in the way. I'll take it off. The miter gauge is too short and loose. I had to replace it with a different one.The protective plastic cover does not open far enough and makes measurements with calipers or rules difficult. I'll take it off.To sum it all up, the Proxxon product design team delivered a failure, because all included tools are subpar, cheap and useless. Luckily the engineering team delivered a success, because the table & saw is precise, sturdy and accurate well below 1/100 inch. And that is what matters in the end.

Best in Class, but not perfect.
Positives: Solidly built, great torque, (mostly) great attention to detail, a (mostly) well thought out design. I’ve owned other micro saws and this is by far the best. Two Drawbacks: The indexing scale on the front is either of poor design or just over my head. Either way, I find it nearly useless. This doesn’t bother me however, as I prefer manually measuring and setting the fence anyway. Speaking of the fence…the only real flaw in the unit is that the fence comes out of true (not perpendicular unless very careful when locking it down, and this seems to be because the locking mechanism isn’t quite centered properly. Still, this is easily overcome if careful.Overall, I am very impressed with the unit and consider it well worth the premium cost over others I’ve tried.

Works great for cutting frets slots.
I purchased this with a .20 blade and it works great for frets slots. Does not bog down at all and can cut slots on hardwood necks in no time compared to a long time cutting by hand.

Great small table saw. Ship model builder (wood). I just love it. I guess I just love the proxxon tools. I have the disc sander and almost all the hand tools. Proxxon has replace dremel tools for me……

Well built hobby saw that delivers straight cuts but has some significant limitations
I'm on the 3/4 stars fence with this tool. It is very expensive for a small hobby saw, but it is well built and it does what it's designed to do pretty well. The cuts are straight and the power is definitely adequate for my use as a hobby tool for building model sailplanes. Although it is a compact saw, it cuts through balsa, spruce, basswood, and even plywood up to 1/4 inch without any stress. It may even manage thicker wood - I've just not used any. The cuts I get nice and straight when my substrate will fit the angle stop rail, which is where I do 90% of my cuts. That adjustable angle stop works very well for precise angles and I recently built the most precise set of glider tail feathers in my life with it. The footprint is small, but that's what I expected when I got it, and the table extension is actually pretty useful in making it 'bigger' than advertised. It's actually pretty quiet, although the vacuum I run when sawing still makes ear protection necessary. The unit is actually very stable, even without mounting it to my bench. Changing blades is easy (though I don't expect to do that often) and operation is straightforward. But the unit does have some significant limitations.First off I should say I was well warned by other reviewers but still found the limitations irritating. The angle stop works well but is not infinitely flexible and hard to use for some of the cuts I do on longer pieces of wood. The rip fence is removable for such cuts, but there's no table extension on that side of the saw.As with other reviewers, I've found the rip fence is not very stable and will move out of 90 degree alignment with very little pressure on it from the side by the wood being sawed. With very gentle use it can do a good job of ripping, but a little too much pressure on the side and it comes out of position far too easily. I'm unfortunately not as able to just make my own rip fence as another reviewer who noted this, so I'm just limited by its performance. As others have noted, the measuring scale with mitre adjustment has been a BIG disappointment for me, as well. First off, you're warned not to use the rip fence for cross-cutting, which is most of what I do (and with the instability of the rip fence it wouldn't be very useful for cross-cutting anyway). Secondly, I could not calibrate it to correspond to where the blade cuts to save my soul. So I couldn't depend on that even if the rip fence were more stable. Finally, the protective plastic blade cover does not open adequately for measuring and gets in the way of cuts. I took it off and am much happier (but am not recommending this, to be clear. If you also do this, you're doing so at your own risk). It should be better designed. Finally, for such a pricey item it would be nice if it came with additional blades. I've done virtually all my cuts with the HSS blade (250 teeth) and it had to be purchased separately. So the bottom line is that the saw is a keeper for me because I've adapted to its limitations and it does cut nice, straight lines. Moreover, it seems to be the best of a limited set of options since, even if my budget were unlimited, the Byrnes saws are no longer available. But even for this mid-priced saw, I'd hoped for more and I guess I'm not as forgiving as some folks who observe the same limitations but still gave it five stars.

Nice saw. Worth every penny.
Ordered this saw because I got tired of rolling out my full size table saw when I need to make a simple cut. I'm very pleased with the quality and performance. Plenty of power, and good precision although the miter slot was a tiny bit sloppy. Shim stock added to the bar took care of that. The fence adjustment is very precise. I also bought the Proxxon miter saw and it too is a really fine tool.

Awesome machine
Well built amazingly accurate. Easy to use and powerful, could cut paper thin strips easily.

Do not purchase this saw
I'm an experienced woodworker and I was unable to get a square cut when using the miter gauge/fence. I contacted the company and they sent me a new one and I'm having the same problem. After several attempts to adjust the new gauge and still not able to get a square cut, I tried the same cut on my Dewalt compound miter saw and got a perfectly square cut, After trying the new gauge after receiving it today I was going to return the saw and found out the window for return expired yesterday. I thought this would be a great saw for building butcher block cutting boards and table tops but without being able to get accurate cuts I do not recommend buying this saw.
