Surprisingly amazing considering the budget friendly price - Worth serious consideration
I’ve been searching for a cheap, but useable tablet for a few months and finally pulled the trigger on this little guy when it was a Lightning Deal. Other contenders were the Npole 10.1”, Asus z580c and Samsung Galaxy Tab A.Originally, I wanted something with a 10” screen because I’ve always had smaller tabs (Nexus 7 2013 and iPad mini Retina) and thought the larger screen would be nice for a change. Unfortunately, most 10” tabs in this price range have a pretty low resolution screen and slower CPU compared to the RePad 8. I could have purchased the RePad 10, but didn’t think it was worth the asking price of nearly $200. Being the budget conscious and performance hungry user that I am, this tab was really the only choice...and a great choice it was.+ = Pros+/- = Neutral comment or observation (does not affect overall rating)- = ConsPACKAGING+ Packaging is comparable (and maybe even a bit nicer) to high-end tabs and phones I’ve purchased+ Tab is nestled inside a CNC machined piece of foam which offers better protection than a thin plastic tray or cardboard insert+ Underside of box lid has a thin layer of foam to protect screen- Tab is not wrapped in plastic nor is there a temporary screen protector appliedCONSTRUCTION & ESTHETICS+ Feels solid in the hand+ No noticeable flex or give during normal usage+ Charging port is located on the top which is weird at first, but actually a more useful location+/- Unassuming design, plain, back was definitely styled after the iPhone 5- Fingerprint magnet (like all other smart devices)- Power and volume buttons wiggle and make noise when the tab is moved around- Noticeable bump on the back of the tab towards the top middle which makes the gap between the glass and matte metal look uneven- No notification LEDOS, HARDWARE & UPDATES+ Android 6 Marshmallow – most tabs in this price range are using older versions like KitKat or Lollipop+ No bloatware+ RK3288 CPU won't win any awards, but it's fast enough - still no comparison to the latest Exynos 8895 or SnapDragon 835+ I'm not a heavy gamer, but this tab was able to smoothly play Family Guy, Frozen Free Fall, Inside Out, Maze Runner, Minion Rush, and Temple Run+ 32GB storage (most other tabs in this price range only have 16GB)+ Power on to lock screen takes about 12 seconds and shutdown takes about 3 seconds (stock, no encryption, no additional apps installed)+ Vibration notification motor is reasonably powerful and loud+/- Hopefully an update to Nougat is planned in the near future+/- After setup, the tab would successfully download updates, but I kept receiving an error message and they wouldn’t install. I performed a factory reset and after setup again, the updates downloaded and installed without an issue.+/- 2GB RAM (I would have preferred 3 or 4GB)CAMERA+ Camera app starts reasonably quick+ Closeups are surprisingly decent and actually show detail- IQ for anything other than a closeup is below average- Camera has a difficult time locking focus- No image stabilization- Noticeable shutter lag which causes blurred photos unless you keep your hand perfectly stillDISPLAY & TOUCH SCREEN RESPONSE+ QXGA resolution is amazing in a tab priced around $125+ Display is sharp, text is crisp and easy to read, it’s simply beautiful for such a budget device+ No dead pixels or light/dark spots+ At minimum brightness, display is plenty bright for indoor viewing+ Screen rotation is responsive and as fast as any other smart device+/- Sensitivity is good, but sometimes I feel like I have to press harder than with other smart devices+/- Scrolling through a webpage or list is reasonably smooth when you do it fast, scroll slowly and it becomes choppy- Colors are less vibrant and washed out compared to my S7 and iPad mini Retina- Whites take on a slight yellow hue- Blacks do not get as dark as my S7 and iPad mini Retina- Minor light bleeding around the entire display- Even at maximum brightness, display is difficult to see while outdoors (max brightness on this tab is comparable to about 40-45% brightness on my S7)BLUETOOTH & WIFI+ Bluetooth works fine with my Fitbit, TaoTronics BT Headphones, Galaxy S7 and laptop+ Stable wifi (once I was able to get it connected to my home network)- At first, wifi wouldn’t connect to my home network. Several reboots and password verification made no difference. It only started working with my home wifi after connecting it to my S7 hotspot and then “forgetting” the hotspot and trying to connect to my home wifi.SPEAKERS & AUDIO+ Stereo speakers+ Better than expected sound quality, audio is clear and can be turned up pretty loud+ Headphone audio quality is pretty good- Speakers sound hollow and lack depth- I can detect a buzzing noise coming from the speakers if the tab is held close to my face...not really noticeable if the tab is held at a normal arms length distance- Audio over 3.5mm jack does have interference at times (only noticeable if vol is muted or nothing is playing)BATTERY+ 6700mAh battery even though it is listed as 4800mAh in the specs (I downloaded a battery info app for verification and it reported a 6700mAh battery was installed)+ With light usage, the battery has lasted me 4 days after the first charge and is now at 36% and needs to be recharged (light usage = download OS updates, download app updates, check email, browse internet, quick online shopping, change settings, brightness set to minimum, auto-off after 1 minute)- If you start to moderately use this tab and play games, battery life suffers quickly and I would expect heavy users to only see 4-6 hoursACCESSORIES+ Flat, noodle-style USB cable+ Simple getting started guide included – useful for those who may just be purchasing a smart device for the first time- Wall charger makes a buzzing noise and gets warm (not hot) during charging (tab gets slightly warm like all other smart devices I’ve owned but cools quickly due to the aluminum back)OBSERVATIONS & MISC INFO1. This tablet fits perfectly in an iPad mini 2/3 case where you slide the tablet in/out and secure it with a Velcro flap...not the ones where the tablet sits in a plastic tray. The power, volume buttons and cameras are 100% usable. Depending on the case, you may have to make alterations to reveal the charging port, headphone jack, microSD slot and speakers. Toffee makes 2 cases that will work...the Macleay Folio and Flip Folio. I have both, but am using the Macleay now. When I want to charge the tab I just slide it out of the case. It's a minor inconvenience, but I already had the case and didn't want to buy another.2. Screen protectors for the iPad mini fit ok out of the box and if you take the time to trim the bottom edge then they fit very well. Totally usable, but remember you will have to live with the cutout for the Apple home button.3. Users can enable Developer Options on this device4. Users can enable System UI Tuner on this device

Exceptional Tablet Especially for the Price
The RePad 8 Android Tablet is, in a word, an incredible Android tablet--especially for the money. It has a killer display making all text extremely readable. Even small fonts are easy to read with my old, tired eyes. Plus there is great WiFi connectivity. It has a memory card slot that supports using the MicroSD card as extended memory (thereby increasing the effective memory of the tablet) or as portable memory (allowing moving files to and from the tablet.) Finally, the RePad 8 Android Tablet has a metal frame, so it is ridged and not entirety made of plastic.Set up was a breeze. The tablet even offered to import my apps and configurations from another tablet that I own. I was pleasantly surprised that the RePad 8 Android Tablet came with Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) installed. Many of the current Chinese tablets are sold with Android 4 or 5 and are not upgradable. Since Marshmallow is capable and stable, this is important.I can compare the RePad 8 Android Tablet to two other tablets that I own. One is an iPad Mini and the other is an Asus Zenpad S8. For almost every task, the RePad 8 is easily as good as either of those tablets and doesn't cost nearly as much.So what's not to like? (After all, no tablet is perfect.) The sound from tablet's two tiny speakers is horrid. You won't use the RePad 8 Android Tablet for music unless you use a pair of headphones instead of the built-in speakers. The anemic rear facing 8 megapixel camera and the even worse 1.9 megapixel front camera are nothing special. In fact, they are pretty bad. Lastly, battery life isn't great. My biggest disappointment is likely unique to my particular tablet. There are six pixels in the corner that are stuck. This gives one corner of the display a yellow cast. It's small and easily ignored, but it is never-the-less there. I could return the tablet, but Amazon only offers a refund and I would prefer an exchange. I can live with the yellow cast as it small and only in the corner of the screen.I would have preferred a bigger battery even if it meant making the tablet slightly thicker. As for the sound and the camera, I don't buy tablets to take photos. I have standalone cameras for that. And if I want to listen to music, I have a pretty good sound system for that. What I do want is a tablet that is well built, is reasonably fast and has a terrific display. The RePad 8 Android Tablet checks all those boxes for me.******** Update 1 ********I decide to replace the original RePad 8 with another, identical RePad 8. After updating and configuring it (just as easy as it was the first time,) I ran the PixelTest app on it. There wasn't any indication of stuck or dead pixels on this RePad, therefore I am considering my first RePad to have a screen that somehow slipped through QA at the factory. I have increased my rating to five stars and will return the original RePad to Amazon for a refund. Battery life and speaker quality aside, this really is an exceptional Android tablet.******** Update 2 ********After boxing up the first RePad and printing out the return label, I found that I just couldn't return the tablet. Even with the slight yellow cast in the corner, it was still too useful and feature rich for the price that I paid. (Both RePads were purchased on Lightening Deals.) Plus I needed a good tablet with an exceptional display for my workshop.Keeping the first RePad enabled me to have all my equipment service manuals PDFs available in a convenient way while keeping my second RePad upstairs out of harm's way. (Workshops can be dangerous places for Electronics!) So I wound up keeping both of them. Yes, the RePad 8 is just that good!

Not bad... Not good...
I've been using this tablet for a few weeks now. It works ok for the price. I use this mainly for reading ebooks, browsing the internet, and watching videos. Gaming performance is poor as most of the games I tried to play just closes after a few minutes so I just uninstalled all of it. Not sure if it is due to the specs or the operating system(might not be optimized). I hope repad releases an update to fix this issue.

It fits nicely in mt purse and is just right to hold
I haven't got this tablet completely set up yet, but it does everything set up so far very well. I keep a micro cloth screen cleaner with it as it fingerprints badly. It fits nicely in mt purse and is just right to hold.

Have beautiful design and good performance, too bad it didn't work longer for me
Bad quality of inside components, 1 week and the inside power is malfunction (central something) and does not charge anymore, what a pity.... I can't ask for refund because I am not in the country and I will take longer to return. Have beautiful design and good performance, too bad it didn't work longer for me

The all aluminum build is nice and performance is not bad
I bought the Repad 8 right after I saw Tim Schofield's video on YouTube. It's quite decent. The all aluminum build is nice and performance is not bad. Apps load up in an acceptable amout of time. This is not the fastest tablet I've used but not the slowest either. For under $200, I would say it's a good buy. My biggest issue is battery life. I got 5 hours and 11 mins of "screen on" time playing Words With Friends, checking messages, shopping on Amazon, etc. I thought I was supposed to get about 8 hours. It took 3 hours and 14 minutes to charge from 1 to 100%. Would definitely need a power bank handy on long trips.Overall I am happy with the Repad 8. The 2G of ram, aluminum body, 32G internal storage, and sub $200 price makes this a worth while purchase for me. I hope more cases come out soon since I don't like the one available right now.
