Superior quality and greatest customer service of all time
Quality comes first when it comes to Nalgene. Sturdy construction, easy to clean, versatile, incredible customer service. Are there a few things you need to know before buying - make sure its a good fit...Here are the PROs:BPA free - I prefer not to drink out of plastic if I can help it, so having a BPA-free bottle is important to me. I'm not gonna get into it whether its actually bad for you or not - but I don't think you are paying much of a premium for it, better safe than sorry.Sturdy - I've dropped these things many times. No cracking or splitting open. And if it did? I would be willing to bet Nalgene would replace.Dishwasher quick clean - throw in dishwasher. Done. Clean. Easy.Fits in cupholder. I suppose it won't fit in the old 12oz can cupholders of the 80's - but standard size cupholders it fits fine.No funny plastic taste - back before I lost my sense of smell due to Covid, this was a big deal. I could drink water with no funny smell or taste from residue or temperature changes.US made - these bottles are manufactured in Rochester, NY - I fully admit I don't always buy US - but if I can, I will and feel very good about supporting manufacturing stateside.MOST IMPORTANT - Customer Service is incredible. If ANYTHING happens to you bottle, you will most likely get it replaced by Nalgene. It may not be fast, but I have had a couple issues and they have responded with over the top service. The last time I had an issue, it was just the "Nalgene" logo wore off shortly after getting the bottle. It wasn't a big deal - and I emailed them to let them know. The bottle still worked perfectly fine. They send me a BRAND NEW BOTTLE. This has been my experience with them over and over again. The minor issues are not a big deal because customer service will take care of ANY problems. So what are these minor issues? It will wear down eventually. I use my bottle every day, fill it up at home and work multiple times. So that's a lot of removing the lid and putting it back on, over and over again. So the plastic strap that holds the lid on should last you at least a couple years. I have 3 with a strap that's lasted 4 years. Most companies would probably tell you that you're SOL if it breaks. Nalgene will very likely replace either the lid or the whole bottle. It isn't completely water tight. This bottle has a straw function (I never use it) so in order for that to work it has to have a relief valve on the lid. If you lay it down on its side, it will probably leak. So if you want a leak proof bottle, look elsewhere. It doesn't drain like crazy if it tips over, but it will drip slightly over time.As I said - customer service will probably take care of any issues.I didn't even mention that I have Nalgene bottles for my 7 year old twins that they have used for about 5 years daily. Usual wear and tear, but incredibly reliable water bottles.

Great water bottle that can be used with one hand and that fits in your cars cup holder!
This water bottle has exceeded my expectations. It is well constructed and offers me multiple ways to drink my water. The straw is great for when I am driving and when using a traditional Nalgene bottle (with two hands) would be impractical or dangerous. But if you need a big gulp it also offers a standard opening with a screw on cap to use. There is also a built in rubber valve/hole in the cap (to relieve negative pressure) for when you need to take a big gulp of water, which allows the water to come out freely. My intended use of this product is just for regular water consumption throughout my day. I am not using it while doing any extreme sports (such as mountain climbing, being shot out of a cannon, etc.) and so I do not need an indestructible bottle/cap combination. I expect the bottle itself is tough (as per Nalgene's reputation) but the cap seems to just be regular plastic and as such I suspect it is not any more tough than any other type of plastic top.I have only recently come to realize how helpful the straw design is for me to moderate my water intake, I can get what I need (relieving dry mouth) without over-hydrating myself. I think the difference between this bottle and the standard Nalgene bottles is that this one is better suited to regular every day use. Its width fits into my car cup holder (as where most other Nalgene bottles I have had do not) it carries enough water for me but is not so big that it would be heavy or its size impractical. I also like that the cap seems secure (it has not leaked on me) and that the straw can be removed from its connector with the cap to ease in cleaning.I recently cleaned the bottle and I felt that I was able to effectively clean all the areas of the cap, I was previously concerned if this would be difficult but it was actually very easy. I would advise getting a water bottle brush/cleaning cleaning kit, one that also as a thin small brush for straws, along with the standard larger soft brush. These help in several ways. If you have a water bottle cleaning brush that you only use for your water bottle it will be cleaner compared to sharing the brush you use for your dirty dishes, these brushes are also typically softer so you don't scratch the plastic, and having the design they have (more of an omni directional bristle orientation) it makes cleaning the bottle easier. The easier it is to clean your bottle the more likely you are to clean it.For regular everyday use this bottle has been great for me and I would recommend it for home, school or office use. I have been very satisfied with my purchase and cannot offer any complaints. I think the straw/screw lid design has really enabled me to make constant use of it throughout my day and I would happily buy this product again.

Cool concept, but...
The straw is a bit awkward and unnecessary. The straw swings out at a 90-degree angle, so it's like drinking out of the side of the bottle. No big deal. But it tends to leak out of the straw if you jostle the bottle around or changes pressure (like inside an airplane). The straw makes it harder to clean.I like having the widemouth lid for filling, and I like the smaller screw-top opening for drinking. Really, Nalgene just needs to design a simpler top with those two features and that's it.

Great but prone to leaks
Great bottle but must be kept upright and avoid cold fluids.

Very good quality.
Fantastic bottle. Only down point is itโs too good. When you open the straw the vacuum from the bottle causes a small jet of water.

Good one but make leak after a couple of years of frequent usage
That's a great bottle - I use it when doing both indoor and outdoor rock climbing. I've been using such a bottle for a couple of years and just bought another one for my wife. It is pretty much indestructible - both are made in USA, build quality is decent thus my bottle survived multiple falls/hits against a rock etc.. Great design as well, very handy that you do not need to remove the cap to drink every time, nozzle works just fine.In regards of leakage - my old bottle started to leak slightly at some point. Not a huge issue though, might have been caused by a fall, I am not sure. The new one does not leak at all.Overall - great product of great design.
