MysticMop - Good Purchase
I purchased this mop on April 30th to replace a ratchet twist string mop. I've used several mops over the past 40+ years: string mops, sponge mops and mops with removable cotton heads. This one beats all I've used. And, I was really surprised because it seems like such a simple design.I've used this MysticMop for a month now - to: damp mop my Pergo floors (using a home made laminate floor cleaner: water, vinegar, rubbing alcohol and few drops of dishwashing detergent), mop ceramic tile floors, wash down kitchen cabinet fronts (almond laminate), wash down bathroom tile walls and wash enamel painted sheetrock walls and ceilings. (These were covered in candle smoke soot. Lesson learned: trim long candle wicks before burning.) The texture of the mop pad works to get in the rough texture of the walls and ceilings. (Walls and ceilings are heavily textured: roll-on mud texture on walls and stomp texture on ceilings.)1. The swivel head works smoothly. The bottom plate of the mop head measures 12-13" x 3" and has hook and loop tape to allow you to attach the microfiber mop pad (or the CloudDuster dust mop pad). The 2 long strips of hook/loop tape have stayed firmly affixed in place - like new. And - I'm able to attach other microfiber cleaning cloths to the plate to buff the bathroom tile walls dry. One reviewer complained the mop head flipped over and scraped her floors - and the mop head DID flip over a couple of times when I used it on walls - but I found if I use consistent even pressure on the mop - it doesn't do this. (No damage to the walls- thank goodness.)2.The pad is thin and a bit larger than the mop pad measuring approximately 14-15" x 4 3/4" - and I like this because it rolls up over the mop plate edges making it easy to clean edges and corners. I like being able to pull the pad off and clean/rinse it in a sink after each job. I've had good results cleaning the pad simply by soaking it in hot water, dishwashing liquid and vinegar. I haven't attempted to wash this in a clothes washer - simply because washing it out in a sink works best for me. I let it dry then store it under the kitchen sink. The mop handle/plate hang in my pantry.3. The pole handle is lightweight and solid. I like the light weight - especially while cleaning overhead. On a few occasions with vigorous, heavier pressure - the extended pole has collapsed - but I've just re-extended it, tightened it up and kept moving. I expect moving parts to - well - actually move (collapse) under certain treatment and it's a minor annoyance that doesn't distract from my overall experience.I paid $35.15 for this mop with the mop pad. A little pricey - but worth it to me. This was a good purchase and I would buy it again. I've already recommended it to family and friends. It exceeded my expectations. My best and quickest mopping experience ever.Update: Three months of weekly use - and still the best mop I've ever owned. Found a new use for it: I have sliding mirrored closet doors in 2 bedrooms. And, a very tall mirror over a tall dresser. I'm short and needed a step stool to reach the top of these mirrors. Now, I attach a microfiber cleaning cloth to the mop head and clean my mirrors with it. Works great and very quick. No streaking with a good microfiber cloth. Does a really good job on cleaning the corners and edges of the mirrors too. No step stool required.Update: Feb 5, 2017. Still using the same mop purchased in 2013. Still love it. I buy new pads once a year. Works!

Cleaning made easy!!
This mop is essential for easily cleaning floors!! I have tried several versions of floor duster/cleaners and MysticMaid is hands-down the best!! I recommend buying extras of the duster pads & mop pads. The duster pads pick up dust, of course, along with small particles (eg, sand & dirt), large pieces (eg, kibble the dog didn't bother to eat), and fur (and my 100+ lb dog sheds alot). Then the mop pads clean the floor afterward.I use hot water to dampen the mop pad, then add a few sprays of Seventh Generation's Multi-Surface Disinfecting Cleaner (which contains a disinfectant made out of thyme). If the mop pad gets dry along the way, which it invariably will, I add a few more sprays of the cleaner. This method does not leave my floors as shiny as washing with a wood cleaner, but I know my floors are really clean, plus it's so little effort! This is so much easier than a floor steamer, and those often don't get the floor hot enough to disinfect, unless you buy a very pricey version! Plain hot water can also be used for chemical-free cleaning.I love that I can dust my bedroom floor in 2-3 minutes by doing a quick sweep with the duster, plus another few minutes to clean it with the mop. I like the Mystic Maid set so much I bought a second -- one for the indoor pool room (to give a quick dusting daily, so as to minimize particles that get into the pool) and another for general household use (which I now leave by the dog's water bowl, to clean up the water he trails after taking a drink). It's easy to change the pads, which are attached with velcro. Plus, the duster and mop pads are washable, so although the initial investment is higher than with Swiffer, after years of use -- yes, I've had the first set for >7 years -- this makes it a much better value. The duster & mop pads work as well now as they did initially, too. The mop head is easy to move on the floor and goes under most furniture with ease -- although it can get stuck when I try to go under a certain dresser and my couch is too low for the MysticMaid to travel underneath.I have 5 of these duster pads & 4 mop pads to clean 1500 sq ft of hardwood floors, so that I can do all the floors at once then throw the pads in the laundry. You can also rinse the mop pad if it gets too dirty, then keep mopping, but I prefer to grab a clean one. These duster & mop pads can go in the dryer; I've been drying them for years on permanent press without a problem, although I try to remove them from the dryer when the thicker duster pads are still a bit damp. I've found that the dryer improves the function of the duster pads (which come out fluffed up & better able to grab dirt, dust, etc), while it makes no difference for the mop pads (which have much shorter fibers).I sometimes use the MysticMaid on my travertine bathroom floor (which is not smooth), and the duster and especially the mop do not glide as nicely as on the wood, although it still works to pick up dust, etc. The duster & mop also work well in the pool room, which has a smoother 12x24" ceramic tile.I have severe injuries/arthritis, so I can no longer manage a vacuum or floor steamer, but this set allows me to keep my wooden floors clean. Highly recommended -- to get the set & extra cleaning pads!!
