Outstanding Customer Support
The first thing I have to say about UASure is their phenomenal customer support. Before I purchased a kit, I submitted questions on a holiday weekend, expecting a response early the following week. Instead, I got a response within an hour that was thorough and knowledgeable, answering every one of my questions.I purchased a bundle that included the kit along with some extra test strips and lancets. I flubbed my first couple of tests because the protocol is pretty strict. First I didn't manage to get an adequate sample. Then I got blood in the strip before I put it in the device. Then my readings were all over the map.I sent several messages to UASure and in every case I got a response within an hour. Not only did they answer my questions, but in some cases the response was a pretty long list of things I could try or reasons that my test may have been in error.By now I've become competent at performing a test, so I suspect I won't need to contact them again. But this is one company whose customer support is so good, I almost wish I could buy other things from them!Thanks to Craig L. from UASure for being a superstar.

Accurate meter, easy to use. A life changer for my husband.
My husband was recently diagnosed with gout, but had no way to figure out where his uric acid levels were, other than his doctor telling him to take gout medication and have his levels checked twice a year... which seemed insufficient and not enough.I myself use a meter and test strips to check my blood glucose levels, which gave him the idea to search for something like this that would measure uric acid levels. In his search he came upon the UA Sure II testing kit (meter and test strips), and after reading many positive reviews about this particular meter he decided to buy it.He is as happy as can be because this meter uses test strips that show him where his numbers are, also realizing that his levels were higher when eating certain foods and lower when he avoided those. And thanks to this meter he can now easier figure out what to eat and what to avoid (still learning though), and as a wonderful side effect the pain he had in his joints for years, blaming it on 'old age' and arthritis, was and is getting better when he is able to keep his levels in the 6 range....but before had no way to know where they were.This alone is worth the price of those test strips that are needed for this meter because they are rather expensive, especially when you want to check your uric acid levels each day. Which is the only negative thing I have to say about this meter, the high price to actually be able to use the meter.This UA Sure II meter itself is a life changer for my husband, especially with the "side effect" I already mentioned that the pain in his joints got so much better and he is still amazed by this, he had forgotten how it feels to not have joint pain 24/7. 5 stars :-)

Accuracy
I've been using these test strips almost every day for nearly two years: 650 tests from 25 boxes and 9 different production lots. Over those 2 years I've also had 4 uric acid tests through my medical provider and compared results. In all cases I tested my uric acid in the parking lot directly before or after the test from my medical provider to minimize differences from daily fluctuations. I've also tested duplicates within and between boxes. I've found the product to be very good and accurate to the levels that the company represents in the instructions that come inside the box, which is about 0.4 mg/dL at one standard deviation at a reading of 9 Uric acid level. That's a precision of 4 to 5%, and the 4 tests through my medical provider matched the test strips to within +/- 0.5.I've learned a lot about what raises and lowers my blood uric acid levels as a result of these tests, and I've learned that my UA levels can vary significantly from day to day depending on what I eat, how much I exercise, and whether or not I'm fasting. My UA levels range from 4.5 to 11, and I've found that hard workouts and fasting affect my UA levels as much or more than eating meat and high purine foods that are often associated with gout attacks.Overall, a great and reliable way to understand more about your health if you have high UA. But with that said, in my experience it's the hard work of exercise and eating right over the long term that stops gout, not a simple matter of avoiding a few foods that might temporarily elevate uric acid levels or trigger gout. Three years ago I had 4 or 5 severe gout attacks per year. Now, I'm 30 lbs lighter, in better shape, and haven't had an attack in 18 months. The severity of attacks progressively decreased over the 2 years leading up to being gout free as I improved diet and exercise. I did it without medication to lower uric acid levels. Using these test strips helped me understand what was happening with my UA levels along the way.Update 8/29/20: I thought I'd share my UA data for the past couple of years to show what my daily data looked like going from multiple severe gout attacks per year to none in the past 18 months. As you can see, there's a lot of day-to-day variation with a slightly decreasing trend over time. The red line is a 20-day moving average that starts at about 7.8 mg/dL and over 2 years dropped to 6.9 mg/dL. My understanding is that the solubility of uric acid in blood serum is about 7.3 mg/dL, so my average went from above the solubility limit (precipitating UA crystals), to below 7.3 mg/dL (dissolving UA crystals). My doctor prescribed 300 mg Allopurinol daily with the goal of getting my UA below 6.0 mg/dL. I started with 150 mg/dL for 10 days (red dots) and it brought my UA level to below 6.0, a common target (the daily UA test strips tracked the response very well) Allopurinol definitely did the job, and quickly. I decided to discontinue taking the Allopurinol to see what I could do with some serious diet and exercise, and followed that course for two years in cooperation with my doctor. I suspect Allopurinol would have lowered my uric acid levels more, and made me gout-free quicker, but I wanted a natural, healthy, change.One more chart I've added is LDL, HDL, glucose, and total cholesterol, with the yellow highlight in 2017 being about 30 days after starting a serious change in diet and exercise. What stands out to me is that cholesterol showed much more change than uric acid level. Glucose lowered some; LDL lowered a lot... and no prescription meds. I basically eliminated most saturated fats, sugars, and refined wheat in my diet and moved to lots of veggies, fruits, and nuts with some fish and chicken.... and LOTS of exercise.So, a couple of key points in this update... one is to show the actual variability I saw in daily UA levels based on diet and exercise. That variability is not from the test strips, but rather from the body's natural response to diet and exercise. The other is that the very high spikes in my graph were usually after competing in a 14-mile Spartan Beast race or similar hard workout... where I was carb-depleted, dehydrated, and very stressed... but that is great for building physical endurance and working to become gout-free. The third graph is where I measured on closer hourly intervals to see what was happening with blood uric acid levels over time after a stressful workout.. in this case a Spartan race... UA levels spiked after workout stress, and then declined over 48 hours. I never avoided hard workouts just because they temporarily elevated UA levels for 24 to 36 hours... that was actually making me stronger and better.Be strong, be healthy... be curiousMountain Climber
