Is the foam very sturdy?

Not sure exactly what you are asking but I wore this for Halloween 2019 for 7 hours with no issues. The foam mask is not rigid foam, it is flexible to contour to your face. It is pretty thick as well. It does seem like it would rip unless significant force was used

Does it wrap around your whole head or just cover from like your ears to your nose?

It covers your face from ear to ear, exposing your chin. The elastic band stretches around the back of your head.
