Cool character, looking slightly awkward
The LEGO range of buildable figures in the Star Wars theme has been going for a while now, and this representation of Rey is part of the new wave to tie in with The Last Jedi.I confess that I find the buildable figures range a mixed bag. Some look really good whilst others are OK but a bit awkward. I would say that Rey falls into the latter category. The build is straightforward and takes about 30 minutes. Most of the construction features interlocking parts for each limb and using this mechanism gives the figure a really nice range of movement and makes it easy to pose the figure for display. There is also a well-designed four-pronged 'wheel' on Rey's back which, when turned, creates a slashing movement for Rey's lightsabre-holding hand.Speaking of the lightsabre, both it and the silver pistol given to Rey in The Force Awakens by Han Solo are very well designed in this set and look highly authentic. Rey's overall appearance though, not so much. The figure is very angular and considering the robe and tunic-like clothing the character wears, it isn't well represented by LEGO parts. There is a nice cloth section attached to the waist but otherwise Rey's costume is represented by printed plastic pieces and I'm not a big fan.Thankfully, the representation of actor Daisy Ridley's face is OK. She has a neutral expression and although you have to squint a bit to see the likeness, I've seen worse. For the money, if you love LEGO Star Wars to death it may be worth a purchase. Although LEGO's minifigure versions of Rey are just as good in their own way. If you are a particularly big fan of Rey herself, I think a proper action figure would do a better job.

Not very satisfying (much like the film)
This buildable Rey figure accompanies the Star Wars: The Last Jedi film. It took me about 30-40 minutes to build, but would probably take a child longer and they might need a bit of help from an adult for some of the sections. To be honest, I'm not entirely convinced by the range of larger buildable Lego figures. They are not as satisfying to build as the regular ranges, and they are not very easy to play with once they are built. The last figure we made was Darth Vadar and the android type skeleton worked far better for his character than it does for a humanoid figure like Rey, as the finished model looks very mechanical and not in an appealing way. If I saw it built, I might think it was a figure from Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings, it's only really the lightsaber that ties it to Star Wars and doesn't particularly look like Rey. The cloth section of her outfit doesn't seem to flow well from the plastic part and just looks a bit odd. The best part of the figure is that the range of motion of her lightsaber arm is great, you can use a wheel on her back to move her right arm up and down as if she is fighting. Her other arm is just poseable using the ball joint construction. If you liked The Last Jedi enough to buy the figure then you'll probably be pleased with the result, but if you weren't convinced and still want to build one of the large figures, I would recommend Darth Vader.
