Are these made of hard plastic (like the original) or are they made of foam?

It's made of hard plastic,.......

How does the quality compare of these compare to the original rubix cube?

It is a little cheaper in quality, but works well. My sons have used it since earlier this year on and off and dropped it...and no problems.
