Really helpful

I've been working on learning the Russian alphabet for about a week, using YouTube, websites, phrase books etc, but this little book has helped more than any other in getting the hard-to-remember bits into my head. It also has a wonderful extra feature: It doesn't print the pronunciation right next to the Russian script, as nearly all vocabulary books do. This means you have to work it out for yourself by actually reading the Russian word. (The answer is printed further down, of course.) It's so much more conducive to learning if the answer isn't just given to you!

Amazing for self-learners

I started off with zero Russian knowledge and for me the most important thing was to learn the letters as this was the biggest change for me coming from English. There are a lot of books out there that claim to be beginner friendly but this is BY FAR the most friendly. And does explaining things extremely well, you'll be amazed at how quickly you pick up the cyrillic alphabetWould definitely recommend!

Smaller and shorter them expected

It's not exactly what I expected, quite short, but it has some good and easy steps to help understanding Russian alphabet, my little boy and husband appreciate it

Essential tool for beginners

This basically teaches you the style used in kindergarten. This makes it very easy to remember.

Amusing guide to learning Russian Alphabet

Need to properly focus and read it with care but it taught me two new words and corrected my pronunciation of a known word even on initial reading of first few pages.Although the intention is to teach the Russian Cyrillic alphabet (other country Cyrillic alphabets will differ) it also includes a handful of words as examples of each letter. So there a hundred or more small words and guide to their pronunciation throw in.It’s small but packs in a lot. Best guide I’ve seen and does what I need (helping me read signs eg on metro)

Excellent beginner's guide

This guide is incredibly easy to follow, and after just a few minutes I was already able to pronounce my first Russian words. Each letter gets its own page, but instead of long, boring descriptions, the author has cleverly used illustrations to make it simple for you to establish a connection between the letter and the right sound. It's really fun, suitable for all ages, and there's a link to download an audio file so you can actually hear them spoken by the author (she's from Moscow).I thoroughly recommend it to anyone interested in Russian or languages in general.

Solidifies foundation

Prior to purchasing this book, I followed a video lesson from a different instructor. I kind of knew how most letters are pronounced in words, but not the names of the letters themselves (the last few pages tells you in this book!), and I didn't really get the soft sign and hard sign. I didn't have a solid grasp of the letters. This little book, though small and thin, helped me solidify my foundation, and I have a much better grasp of the alphabet now. The small volume is less daunting than big books and easy to pick up and practice. The best things are the exercises - I'd cover the pronunciation and try it myself first, then see if I got it right. The exercises also help build vocabulary! The humorous and clever presentation is great, making alphabets not so dry to learn!Do get the free audio file - it corrected a few letters I didn't get right, like ы, and the names of the letters. After this book, I had also purchased the cursive handwriting book from the same author - gotta be able to write! That one has even more exercises and vocab, also in a small volume easy to pick up any time you have a few minutes. I recommend both.

Now thaat is a cool way to start your journey with Russian!!!

Been interested in Russia since a long time and finally decided to initiate with the language of this country. It can be a daunting task to face the Cyrillic alphabets, however this book just made the whole damn thing look like a cakewalk! Would definitely recommend it as a starting point before moving on to far more complex stuff! Top Luck! :)
