Homebrew and mass extinction...
Wifey has fed the birds for so long we have a garden full. No slug pellets allowed in case the feathered critters scoff them. Bought a set of these and half filled them with the finest Woodfords Wherry homebrew. Left overnight and it rained for an hour, so the mucus covered enemy was out and about. Next day I emptied between fifteen and twenty five slugs out of each one, a few big ones and loads of small ones (hardly old enough to drink).I have heard of beer traps for slugs before, but didn't realise just how effective they were. Very pleased. Easy to bury halfway in the soil and half fill with beer. A quick detachable lid keeps the rain out but allows the slugs in. So my mucus friends... tonight we have a late bar. Get in there.

You don't get what's in the picture
My first review was rejected by Amazon, so let's try to rephrase it.First, the picture of the product is 2 cardboard boxes with 2 traps for each. That's not what I received - I got 4 traps thrown in a plastic bag, with absolutely no protection around them.Second, the lids are made of a very flimsy plastic, bent out of shape because of they way they were thrown in the plastic bag. One of them was already broken, 2 don't really fit the trap, they move around at the slightest touch, so even the tiniest gust of wind will probably blow them off the trap.Third, they have a very strong smell. I doubt the snails will be able to feel the beer smell over that plastic smell.

Slug of beer followed by dead slugs..Brilliant.
Brilliant! Ordering more today. I have a large garden; grow fruit , veg, flowers etc. With the huge numbers of slugs this year and not wanting Chemical nasties (we are visited by hedgehogs) I spent a fortune on nematodes! still my runner beans were decimated, dalia's and Lupins minute bits of stalks. so i put beer in plastic cups sunk in the ground, Worked a bit..well a lot really..but trouble was dogs ate the contents..YUK! drunken slimey things do not aid the doggies breath.Tried these...100,s of the blighters dead first night and easy to tip in the compost bins. 2nd night repeat. 3rd night well....worth every penny, works and keeps on working.Tip: works fine with the cheapest cans of beer you can find.

Beer Traps
These beer traps came in so handy last year, I normally just use yogurt pots or something similar, however it was never long after filling them with beer it would rain and then they didn't work so well. So the tops on these work well for keeping out the rain, although they can sometimes be a little bit tricky to put back on. I feel that the initial outlay for these is worth it, and I'm really hoping my carrot seedlings this year will feel the benefit.

These really do work
I was doubtful. I did not think these could work in any way but they really do. My veg has gone unmolested since I bought these and I really wish I had bought them sooner. As instructed I loaded them up with beer but I also added some cat food cause I noticed that the slimy gits seemed magnetically attracted to the stuff. It took a few nights but once they started working they really started working..

It works!
Caught dozens of slugs and snails within 2 weeks. Needs to be washed and disinfected before adding new beer which must be bitter - lager does not work as well.

Didn't work
I had something similar last year and they where very good but unfortunately these didn't work as well even though I put the same beer in. Don't know why as the slugs wouldn't comment for the review ! they liked my hostas too much to stop and talk !!

Great result.
These are a good size. I clean out the dead slugs each morning and change the beer every other day. I find 10 - 50 slugs in each one, all sizes from a few millimeters to 6 cm long! I really thought I would not be finding slugs this time of year, but since it is so mild they are still out in force. Great price and very economical especially when there is the possibility of having to replace eaten plants.
