Excellent stand alone SD Card/USB Stick HDMI Recorder
The media could not be loaded. Cloner Alliance HDML Cloner Box EvolveExcellent Bit of Kit Things i like : Stand Alone, no PC required Great Quality RecordingsNo HDCP Issues, it records EVERYTHING!One Button Recording/StopAuto Input SelectionIndicator Light Tells exactly what its doingZero Latency Throughput for recording gameplayThings i don’t like:On screen menu looks a bit old fashionedThis is a stand alone HDMI video recorder, no computer is required to make good quality video recordings, it records direct to any USB storage device (memory stick, hard drive etc), maximum usb storage size is 2TB, and it also has a slot for a micro sd card, maximum card size is 32GB.Although the unit is designed to work stand alone the manufacturer offers free windows software when you register the product.I use a Mac to make my videos so i haven’t tried the software as yet.The Evolve has two HDMI inputs and one HDMI output, the second input was the reason i chose the Evolve over the Pro model, although i might get the Pro as well now i’ve tried this model, i like the quality of recording and stand alone nature of these boxes, i hate having to take another laptop or large recording device to make a backup recording of an event, now all i need is this little box and an SD cardThe main difference between this model and the Pro is that the Pro has playback functions (as well as a few other features) which the Evolve does not, but the Evolve has 2 HDMI inputs whereas the Pro has only one HDMi and one other multi connector for use with the supplied VGA/Component/AV cable. In my video you will see i made some recordings from my Freeview HD box and from the BBC iPlayer as well as my Xbox at 1080P from both HD and standard definition sources.I tested it with my Xbox to see if there was any lag and i am happy to report i experienced zero latency from HDMI Input to HDMI output so that makes it great for recording any gameplay without needing special cables.I understand it can accept signals up to 4k resolution inputs but as it records in 1080p or 720P i have not tested this.As well as accepting high definition HDMI signals it can also interface with the olden days using the supplied AV input cable, so this means all those old VHS tapes can be preserved for a few more years by playing them into this box and hitting the record buttonI really have very little to criticise this little box for, it does what its for with minimum effort to set up and get recording, the only gripe i have is the old style on-screen menu, it looks a bit like a 20 year old cctv recorder menu….but as i said this really is nit-picking, i’m a very happy owner of this unit, get one!If you want to see the recordings in proper quality my video is on a well known video sharing platform of the "Tube" variety, search for the product and you will find it.Please click YES below if you found my review useful, thank you.

Good item and works well
Good item and works well. Only thing is that the remote seems to use exactly the same frequencies / codes as my android STB, so I need to separate them (cover the one I don't want to use). Also, the pass through only works if teh unit is powered up, so you need to keep plugging HDMI cables in and out. Probably why others bought HDMI changers at teh same time.

Easy to use and brilliantly reliable
I was a bit wary choosing this because from the description it does everything I want and I found that hard to believe given the poor experience I’ve had with a similar but inferior Startech product. I need not have worried: this worked straight out of the box and indeed does do everything I need - and then some! It also captures directly from my VM Tivo without the need for an HDMI splitter which is brilliant. The remote is great and controls all functions. My only suggestion for improvement would be a longer lead on the power adapter as 75 cm is just a bit too short for my set-up. If you want to archive stuff off your set-top DVR box then I recommend this highly. Thank you ClonerAlliance UK!

No software suppled with unit.
Not a very good product to buy. The adverts look good but it dosn't come with the software required to make it work.this you have to download via a complicated and somewhat stupid internet system, then to be told there's no signal from the unit. At that price I expect the purchase to be complete in all respects, the unit was returned not recommended.

Awful support
Very good device. Bit pricy for what it is but works nicely. Arrived with broken remote control. The support contact has ignored me. Shame because it has spoiled my opinion of the deal. Considering returning the whole system just for the sake of a replacement remote.

Does it all !
I m fulltiming in my motorhome so space is always at a premium. Got the Cloner-Alliance Evolve with the idea to stream TV to my laptop, thus saving to carry a separate television set. As I had no previous experience with video capture devices, I was a bit unsure if this would do what I wanted, especially as my latop is only quite basic and does not have a separate video card. The first attempt to get it running failed but I had already received an email from the service team at Cloner-Alliance telling me that this particular problem might come up and what to do. Following the instructions everything worked fine. I am very impressed with the picture quality on both streamed and recorded material.I anybody wonders: You do NOT need a high spec PC to run the Evolve successfullyI am using separate tuners for satellite and tv reception, both have HDMI outputs. The two HDMI inputs on the Evolve allow me to have everything wired permanently and built into an overhead locker and then only have one long micro USB to USB cable to connect to the laptop. All in all I am very happy with this purchase and can only recommend the Evolve.UPDATE, 04.08.2018Now had time to use this more. I have a lot of DVDs which I am ripping to MP4 format so I can watch them on my laptop as I haven't got the physical space to store them. Up to now I used DVD rippig software (handbrake and Winx DVD Platinum ripper) with some success. However, these programs take a lot more time than the actual running time of the DVD to convert to mp4 and can't cope with some of the copy protection. Now there is a much better way: An upscaling DVD player (cheap one will do; mine was £ 22) with HDMI out running ino the EVOLVE which in turn is connected t the laptop. Run the film and simply press the record button at the right time. Recordings are in real time and of better quality than any of the ones created by the software. No problems with ANY copy protection either as the DVD player handles that and you are only recording off the DVD player output.Only downside is that you have to click the stop button at the end of the film otherwise it will record endlessly. I set a kitchen timer to remind me.All in all this has further confirmed my opinion that the EVOLVE is a great piece of kit !!! Well happy with it!
