Great poaching cups that work surprisingly well.
I bought these poaching cups to replace those on our 4-cup Salter Poaching Pan. These original cups were metal and non-stick coated. Unfortunately, despite careful cleaning, I found that the non-stick coating wore away quite quickly which resulted in the metal cups becoming noticeably rusty in a surprisingly short time. Not only did this make the poached eggs difficult to remove from the cups but also gave the eggs a definite metallic flavour.I have to admit that I wasnβt really convinced that these plastic cups would prove suitable replacements but, given the very reasonable price, I thought it was worth giving them a try. I have to say that they are excellent, performing far better than I had expected. For starters they are a perfect fit for our Slater Poaching Pan, something I was a little uncertain of.When it comes to their use it is important, as with any poaching cups, to lightly coat the inside with something like butter or margarine in order to prevent the eggs from sticking. Being plastic does mean that when it comes to cooking your eggs things are slightly different from when using metal cups. Because plastic is less efficient at conducting heat than metal I find that you need to cook your eggs at a slightly higher temperature and for a slightly longer time than you would when using metal cups. However, once you get your temperature and timing sorted out the eggs cook absolutely beautifully and, with a quick tap, will slip out of the cup perfectly every time. There are just two minor things that I feel are worth noting. One is that during poaching the cups expand slightly which makes them fit a little tightly into the cup carrier and can make them a bit reluctant to lift out. I find that itβs best to use the tip of a knife to lightly ease the cups out rather than to simply try and yank them out. Secondly the cup handles are a little bit on the small side and, being moulded as part of the cup, get quite hot during cooking. However, these are two minor issues which are certainly not deal breakers. On the whole these excellent value poaching cups perform brilliantly and I would gladly recommend them to anyone considering a purchase.Regards.Ade

Replacements
after having an accident with my poaching cups, I needed to buy some more. They fit my original poaching pan perfect and do the job

Perfect poached eggs!
What is there to say about replacement egg-poachers? They do the job. They fit the holes in my poaching pan perfectly (6.5mm diameter); med/large egg fitted in without spilling over; cooked beautifully & amazed at how easily egg slipped out when cooked (my very old poaching cups required a little coaxing). Arrived one day after estimated delivery date otherwise would have awarded 5 stars.

Excellent replacement
These replaced standard metal coated ones. They are excellent. Because they are plastic they will last a lot longer. Eggs take 2 minutes longer to poach though as there isnβt any heat from the metal. I also ensure the water in the pan doesnβt touch them and cook with the poacher lid on. Bought 4 more, just in case!

Does the job
I could have got a complete new egg poaching pan for the same price, but it was only the inserts I needed so got these. I thought it was better for the environment to reuse the other bits.
