Wrights of Lymm Imitation Gold Leaf 25 sheets 140 x 140 mm

This is a good colour match for standard yellow gold, the sheets are a little thicker than real gold imo (I could touch it with a dry finger without it trying to cling like real leaf does), and delivery was extremely fast.The only thing is that the leaves are loose. I was after transfer, and as I couldn't see anything specific in the details (unless I'm just missing it?) I had a look at the reviews. The only 2 star review mentions it being hard to get off the backing which I wrongly assumed meant it was a transfer. This isn't a fault of the seller - I should have double checked before purchase - and the product is good, but just in case anyone else wanted to know I thought I'd mention it!

..but I didn't realise how incredibly difficult gold leaf is to handle! I'm a complete beginner so this isn't the faultof the product, but I would advise anybody buying this watching a few instruction videos too and buying the correct glues ot go with it and some teeny tweezers.However it arrived well packaged and in good time, and the gold leaf looks just like the real thing when on and won't tarnish.

This was the first time I had used this product. You need a lot of patience, it is quite fiddly. Very good product. One or two sheets had a little break in them, but it didn't cause too much of a problem. Finished off with gold leaf varnish. Very pleased with the end result.

Seeing the various reviews of this, I was dreading the project as others had reported it as fiddly and difficult to use. I cannot disagree more, this is a dream to use compared to other types of gold leaf I have bought. This is always a challenging material but using this on transforming my bedroom furniture to shabby chic was frankly addictive. I had to stop myself from overkill as you could even put the leaf on a finger and let it gently float down on to the wood. I then used a dry watercolour brush to gently push the leaf into corners and around a curve. Great stuff!

First time to use this so I am learning as I go, the leaf is very fragile so needs to be handled very carefully. Where it has gone on neatly it looks very good (maybe I should have experimented a bit first)

Great value as you get several sheets, easy to apply using glue and a brush, looks the part, effective result at a fraction of the price if real gold leaf

Amazing, used it for a photo shoot and I just wet the Models face with a bit of water and used a dry brush to stick it on, worked really well, couldn't be happier with this product, and I covered nearly half a face with one sheet so there is plenty of sheets and they go a long way, will defiantly buy again if I ever need more

I chose this as a cheap alternative to genuine gold leaf and used it to decorate some terracotta flower pots for presents. It worked perfectly, and when sealed with PVA glue, is waterproof. I would buy again.
