Q: if every thing goes well how many years before it will grow avocados you can eat?

I’ve read about people getting fruit in 5-7 years, it’s worth the try. The only thing is you need to be in a fairly hot climate; most of the Avocados eaten in USA are imported from Mexico. Southern California has robust commercial Avocado production, but go figure, we apparently export most of our crops! Growing a tree at home from a pit requires monitoring conditions regularly. They need rich soil (compost each spring, and “Citrus/Avocado” fertilizer, organic of course.) Don’t over-do it, though; follow fertilizer directions. They need adequate water in fruit stage, but a little stress is what triggers the fruit to form, so don’t over-water. For the first couple years, it should be tended to in interest of green growth; pinching will help it be bushier, which means more fruit! You can grow them in a pot, also. Change out the soil every other year or so and fertilize more often but with a weaker or lesser amount fertilizer. Something to try that works for other flowering plants is the use of Epsom salts (magnesium) to encourage flower production. You’re on your own for instructions on that, it worth a try in say the 3rd or 4th Spring. Sorry such a long answer, but wanted you to realize it’s a fun, do-able project, worth the “trouble.” And it DOES NOT take 50 years to bear fruit!!!

Q: Do you peel the seed before putting it in the avo holder?

Yes. Peel off just the thin outer skin to reveal the seed underneath. I have never been able to grow avocados the old fashioned way. With the AvoSeedo's I have TREES!!

Excellent family fun

I purchased this as a fun little family project after seeing a video online.The setup is pretty straight forward, fill a bowl full of water, put the seed in the Avoseedo and ensure it floats straight.There are 3 flags included to write the date that you started the seed off in the water, and then a holder on the front of the “boat” to place your flag.We started ours on 28th aug 2020 and on 16th sept the seed has started to break open and we have a hint of green coming out.Pros- easy- cheap- family friendlyCons- avocados are not always the cheapest and you can easily render the seed useless if you graze it with metal when cutting the avocado

Expensive for what you actually get

I was a little disappointed with this. I thought you got a little more than just a plastic floatation and a couple of flags. Quite pricey for what you actually get.

Nice product but too big

Looks good but the hole is way too big for the seed which completely defeated the object of the product, which is a shame.. I’ll have to look for an extra large avocado haha

Great product - ready to grow my Avocado tree!

This product does what is supposed to do. Avocado seed fits inside perfectly and it looks really nice! I'm very happy with the purchase, only thing left is to wait now. Highly recommended!

Does not come with any seeds

This is the biggest waste of money ever. At no point in the item description did it say it doesn't come with Avocado seeds so you're just buying a load of overpriced plastic. If you hate having money in your bank account then buy one of these, otherwise, steer well clear.
