robust and fast
these drives offer fast no nonsense storage and are really solid. I haven't measured I/O speeds but for any musicians composers out there I am running 120+ Logic Pro tracks of large orchestral sample libraries, plugins and effects from these drives on my MacBook Pro without any latency problems or needing to bounce down. impressive. Not cheap but rec0ommedned

Transformed a slug of 2017 iMac (internal mechanical HD) into a usable machine.
My 2017 iMac had become practically unusable, with a failing 1TB mechanical HD and 8MB of RAM. Attaching this as my boot drive has given it a new lease of life. Boot time, opening windows and apps are now a breeze. Genuinely surprised by the performance increase. Highly recommended for those he can't afford a new M2 Mac.

Fast, but cables don't feel secure in the single port
This drive is fast, for sure, but any USB-C cable seems very loose when connected to its single port. I just wouldn't trust that connection to last. The internal chassis behind the port doesn't seemed designed for durability. It's a shame - if the drive was updated with a snug, secure cable-to-port fitting, I would have kept it.

Lasted a day!
Blazing fast out the box on Thunderbolt 4 though not as fast as claimed but much faster than USB. both read and write speed were around 2300 according to Blackmagic speed checker. Switched on computer last evening to do some editing and drive would not mount on Thunderbolt. A call to OWC support confirmed the drive is a dead duck. I obviously did all the tests I could; tried it with different cables reformatted it using the USB connection that is 1/3 of the speed of Thunderbolt. Tried it on a different computer. No luck. It is, not a dead parrot, but a dead drive. It happens. It’s a pity as the drive is indeed built like a tank, but unfortunately a non working one on this occasion.
