can you provide details of instructions for hanging the wall cabinets?

Honestly you just have to follow the instructions from A-Z and take no shortcuts

Can the wall mounted shelves rest on the side tables or do they need to be mounted?

I have yet to install mine, but they are assembled. I would say they could sit on the side tables but would still need to be attached to the wall to prevent tipping over.
