Hozelock Bioforce Revolution 14000

Excellent product
If I have a criticism it’s that the marketing material seems to suggest it comes with a pump even the packaging shows a pump. This is misleading as you only get the filter. Even so, so far the filter is performing well

Disappointed
The unit is fantastic but after only two years the top UV section of the unit blew. We had the choice to replace that part only for £140.00 but decided to buy a complete new unit we could use as spares. This is a good product but I wish it lasted longer!!

Good choice for a mid range filter
Operated for a week or so now and can confirm its build quality, effectiveness and easy to clean operation.I placed a uv ahead of the revolution for a double dose.I also had two t’d Bioforce 9000’s previously which were good too, however required weekly dismantling to clean sponges.I have since recycled them as a second stage bio filter, packing them full of alfagrog and running the output of the revolution into them.I also placed some cotton pads on the alfragrog to assess the cleanliness of water input and it is pretty clean, along with screwing a 4” drainpipe into the 9000 cores so that the grog stays out of the way of the uv housings.Water quality is improving continuously as the bac increases, so am very pleased with the configuration. In use on a 32000 litre heavily planted pond koi (14 koi between 12” and 30”), also a large shoal of golden Rudd, and of course several goldfish.Crystal clear and excellent water parameters now, koi very healthy.

Work's well.
Have been using this now for several months on a heavily stocked 3000L pond and it keeps the water clear. It is a sturdy, well made product that I expect to last for several years. I bought it on a frined's recommendation because he has been using the same make for several years without any issue. Also, I like the fact that if it did go wrong you can buy all the spares from Hozelock.

Quality product, almost effortless maintenance - brilliant
This was bought to replace a 20 year-old Bioforce filter which had done sterling service but was starting to show its age (just like me). I did a lot of research as I didn’t want to have to open up the unit & haul the filter sponge out as I’d had to with the old one. This model had good reviews compared to cheaper models which had comments such as paddle breaking, lid leaking etc. Well, I’m happy to confirm that you get what you pay for & this filter is so easy to fit, use & maintain. It’s strong & sturdy & it feels made of quality materials. We’d had a major problem with sludge in our pond as it hadn’t been maintained for years & plants had fallen over, dumping aqua soil around. I dredged lots of this out but couldn’t clear the water despite using sediment settling products. A week after fitting this filter, cleaning the sponges (oh! So easily) every couple of days, we can now see the very bottom of the pond - something not seen since I emptied the whole thing out & re-lined it 20 years ago!I can happily recommend this filter to anyone.

Can't fault it
Delivered from Aquacadabra in under 24 hrs. Top marks for that. Was easy to install as I already used a hozelock filter and the pipe connectors are the same. Only had to wire it to the switch box and sink it into the ground to about half way up it. The filter is a bit on the tall side and I felt that it would be more stable by doing this.Having just cleared a bad problem of string algae the pond was filthy, but once the pump was turned on the filter cleared it in a couple of hours. After 3 days running the water is now crystal clear and I have just cleaned the filter which took just a few minutes.Overall this is a really good bit of kit

Bioforce pressure filters that are easier to use
We have used Bioforce filters before to keep our garden pond clean and not green. I got fed up with periodically having to empty the filter unit, clean the filter sponges and reassemble the unit. This latest design lets you couple a waste hose to an additional outlet on the unit, stick the other end of the hose in a drain or onto your garden if you wish to use the nitrate-containing water as a fertiliser (and it is brilliant as that) and clean the unit. It works by simply squeezing the inetrnal filters by turning an external handle, opening a valve so that your pond pump flushes the muck out of the filter and out via the drain hose instead of back into the pond. It's a great idea and it works. Don't forget that you will need extra hose and an extra Jubilee clip to be able to drain like this.
