I love this futon
I live in a small apartment and am planning to move sometime soon, so I was looking for a mattress that could be rolled up or folded in three and easily carried.Because our room is small, so every day we get up, we want to spend a day in a clean room with no bedding around. I tried several futons before meeting this futon, but there was no satisfactory futon so far. For example, when we open the delivered futon, a 3-inch futon is vacuum-compressed to 1 inch, and even after opened, the product description says 3 inches thick, but it may only be about 1.5 inches. We felt so disappointed. On the other hand, this futon is thick enough and uncompressed and arrives in a fluffy condition, so it is very comfortable. I think you can feel your body wrapped in a fluffy futon the moment you lie down. The cushioning is completely different from the futon we used before. The previous futon felt that the back was on the floor when sleeping, it hurt, and it felt very painful while sleeping, but this futon is completely different. I wonder what was the days that I endured that pain. You might worry about ticks because it is used on the floor directly, but it is safe because it is made with anti-tick, anti-bacterial and deodorant materials inside. I think it's better to move the futon once in a while and clean the floor just in case.If you choose Japanese mattresses, you should be aware of whether they are compressed at the time of delivery and how long they are compressed as well. The reason is that if the cotton is compressed with vacuum seal for a long time, the cotton will get hard and will not return to its original volume even after it is opened from the package for a while. If you see complains saying that the thickness of the other futon is different from what described in their product page, it is probably because the futon was delivered with compressed period was too long unfortunately. Because it is strongly compressed, the compressed futon become hard like a stone, when you hit it with your fist, you will hear sound similar to knocking door.I really like the space-saving duvet that can be folded in three every day and put away in the closet, and this futon that is fluffy from the moment it is delivered because it's uncompressed. This Japanese mattress is perfect for me. I spend time in a clean room every day, sleep on a fluffy futon, and even when I travel, I carry this futon on my car, I am thankful to this futon that I am feeling good every single day. Also, when purchasing a futon, you can also get a futon cover here. It is safe with 100% cotton. People who know how to dry and maintain a futon will have no problem, but those who don't know or who can't do it due to weather problems can use wonderful Japanese mattress cover to keep your mattress clean.

Best Bed I've Ever Had!
I've had this futon for about a year now (queen size). I was skeptical at first, but it has truly been the best bed I've ever had! It came in plastic bag within a box rather than being vacuum sealed, which was exactly what I was looking for. These types of mattresses are not made to be vacuum sealed like memory or foam mattresses which bounce back. After about a year of sleeping on, the mattress has condensed in size ever so slightly, but has not diminished the quality of the mattress. I sleep with it directly on the floor (no tatami mat or rug beneath it) and it is extremely comfortable. The mattress itself is quite firm, but not uncomfortably so. If you don't enjoy a firmer mattress then this mattress may not be the one for you, but if you do enjoy a firm mattress click that buy button! Regular queen sized fitted sheet fit perfectly over it as well. I no longer have any back pain and my quality of sleep is greatly improved! Whenever my current one kicks the bucket I am definitely buying the same one again!

Different/updated version of futon, does not come uncompressed anymore
So the reviews saying that it comes uncompressed are false. This new version comes highly compressed in a very small box, so the batting is compressed which is sad. When i originally bought a queen version, it came uncompressed and was perfect out of the box. Although, upon unboxing this new futon (twin size) it immediately sprang back to life and decompressed itself immediately. I've never seen any mattress or futon decompress that quickly--most impressive.Although I do not know how to feel about just how thick and firm this futon is compared to the 2021 version. In my review, the first picture is exactly what the mattress looks like, and it is *firm*. The second picture is the old 2021 one that is pretty thin and you can feel the ground or tatami matt underneath. The 2021 futon i highly preferred because, even though it was extremely thin, it felt incredibly nice on my back when paired with a tatami matt. It felt as though my muscles could relax and sink into the futon & tatami matt combo and just recover from long work days. Though i did find myself needing to have extra pillows for my head. This new version of highly firm futons i find you need less pillows for your head because there is significantly more support, but i can't feel the tatami matt underneath me anymore. My muscles don't feel as relaxed. Its only been a few days and hopefully it will compress down more over time, but I honestly don't understand why they changed the composition/construction of the futon. Some did not like the old version but i loved it. This new version of the futon, you almost don't need a tatami matt for the support anymore. It feels closer to a traditional US mattress and i don't like that. It's also not as easy to fold. You can't really fold it in thirds because of how dense the material is, where as the old version it was simple to fold into thirds. This 2023 version of the futon is still significantly higher quality than fuli or any other brand here on amazon (or anywhere that i can find) and the tatami matt they have is unchanged from 2021, but i really wish they didn't change the construction. I changed to a twin size because the queen is far too annoying having to fold up and find a big enough spot to hang every day and i figured the twin would make life easier. But now i feel it might cause back discomfort in the long haul. I find myself second guessing myself: should I just return to the queen size and forget about this twin futon? Also: why did they stop shipping the futon uncompressed? Why are they compressing it now, and leaving old reviews of the version that was non compressed up on amazon? Seems shady of what used to be the best futon company on amazon.I mourn the old version of the futon and that I'll probably never be able to get a twin size of it ever again.
