Excellent Quality
Very happy with these.I have sprouted and then fermented them. Also combined with buckwheat whole groats. I use the fermented oats for porridge, oat cakes, sowens & swats, to make oat pudding, stir-fried dishes, soups, flat bread and still enjoying more experiments. They are tasty. My experience with sprouting them has been excellent. When my kitchen was a bit cold because the temps outside were zero to minus 30, they were a bit slow but still worked. Once the temp rose to zero and above so that my heating maintained 65-70 in the kitchen they are quick to have evidence of germinating in 12-24 hours and produce rootlets in 2-3 days total. My batch has been near 100% viability. Also nicely cleaned, very minimal extra particulate matter. The cat likewise enjoys her oat grass I grow in the east windowsill in some short glass tumblers. Again quick response in 4-6 days to make a thick bunch of grass. It does not reach its height potential only because she trims them daily. They keep on growing back. Looks likes they are well adapted for our Montana conditions.I compared them with full-hull oats. My batch of the later was markedly slower and less viable for germinating/sprouting/grassing. Both types fermented well. However it is much more work to use the hulled ones. I do not have a mill or separator. I think for small kitchens one may have to stone grind and then separate via a gravity method. In contrast. These are infinitely easier. Finally I have a solid, sustainable, high-benefit whole grain alternative to re-provoking my wheat-induced rashes over and over again. I feel satiated much better with oats and so very happy for the relief from chronic itching, scratching, burning cycles.I will expect to purchase more. These have provided a life changer I am motivated to continue and cultivate.

Maybe I have a bad batch? I could not get these oat groats ...
Maybe I have a bad batch? I could not get these oat groats to sprout. I soaked for 8 hours in water, drained and placed in a sieve over a bowl to drain and sprout. Rinsed them every 2-3 hours. Nothing no tails. Instead the groats got moldy. Now trying to prepare without sprouting first. Soaked 8 hours in water. Placed in slow cooker. Been over 3 hours and these groats don't seem to be getting softer or absorbing the water. Very disappointing.

--- These a just TERRIBLE oat groats
What is to say??--- These are just TERRIBLE oat groats. Thy don't cook well at all---& were a total waste of money & now I know why the price was so reasonable. I'll spend the extra & go back to Bob's Red Mill----these are awful.

Good
These are great if you need something gluten-free and with wholesome fiber. However, if you've never tried groats before, this might not be your favorite thing to eat. It has a texture like huge grains of wild rice. I bought it because it's healthy, but it's really taking some getting used to. I added to it cinnamon, raisins, vanilla, and almond milk for breakfast...but I may need to try a savory approach and use it as a substitute for rice with dinner maybe?

Glad to
Love these oat groats. I soak overnight and place 3/4 cup in a bowl add any fruit, apple is my favorite, raw sunflower seeds, cinnamon and eat. I do not cook them. It is hearty, delicious, and you can mix and take with you. I make enough for 5 days and store in the refrigerator. Keeps them fresh.

Takes a long time to cook, but worth the wait.
They take a long time to cook, 45 minutes. They do great in a slow cooker, and if you put them on low they take about seven hours. So, I can put on in the morning and We can have them in the afternoon, or I can put them on at night and have them in the morning. They are fantastic in a moist concoction of black beans, hamburger, rice, oat groats, tomato sauce, all warmed up, and served on a bed of salad leaves.

Didn't behave as I expected
I put these in my overnight rice cooker as I have with steel cut oats. They seemed to have cooked but didn't absorb much if any water. I went through the whole bag like this figuring this was an artifact of using whole oats. However I just purchased "GF Harvest Gluten Free Organic Oat Groats, 5 Pound" and those do absorb a lot of water and "burst" as I would have expected. I don't know if the particular batch I purchased had something wrong with it, but I can't recommend this brand. On the other hand they seem to be edible so I gave them 2 stars.

Awesome Oat Groats
While we don't need to be gluten free, the description of these oats peaked my interest. They are awesome. The best part is that I can cook a larger batch and it heats up just as nicely the next day. It doesn't get all gummy like typical leftover oats that have gluten, the grains stay seperate. This will also be a good item in place of rice. Excellent flavor too!

Awesome quality oats!
These are awesome for those of us on a gluten free diet! I actually prefer them to the taste of regular oats now. First, I boil water with cinnamon sticks. Put groats (I actually use 1/2 groats 1/2 gluten free brown rice) in when the water boils; turn off heat, cover and leave overnight. The next morning I heat with warm milk and ground cinnamon. Yummy!

Accidental purchase gone superb
Love this product. I ordered it by accident, and like it very much. The instructions for cooking on the back of the bag are excellent, I didn't have any problems cooking this all the times I did. I was able to make a batch and freeze individual servings, take them out the night before and they were ready to go in the morning. They look like rice/wheat grains, nice texture and does not take long to cook at all. I just need to order a larger amount next time. 3lbs was not enough for my long term use of this! Highly recommend bulk.

I love these oats
I love these oats. I cook up several cups at a time and keep them in my freezer to use in place of rice. We eat them for breakfast, but also lunch and dinner. I especially like to add a little broth and some sauted mushrooms. They're so crunchy and satisfying. My body is so grateful to the folks at Gluten Free Prairie.

Tasty breakfast alternative
I cook these in the instapot with 1:1 groats to water. 22 min and they come out well. I cook enough for several days. Tasty and chewy. Nice alternative to rolled oats. I plan on using them as a substitute for barley in soups.

Highly recommend!
Better than oatmeal, in a class of its own! I use this with a tiny bit of ghee and rice milk and have no problems with stomach issues like I would with regular oatmeal. This is filling but doesn't weigh you down or extract your energy like oatmeal does. I love it and recommend it for a satisfying weight loss meal or just because it's good and good for you!

adds nutritious bulk to give breakfast more staying power
I sprinkle these on my oatmeal or other cereal to provide a chewier, crunchier breakfast that is more prone to 'stick to the ribs' until lunch. They are edible both 'raw' and steamed with the oatmeal, although I've never eaten more than 1/4 cup at a time. I assume they're more nutritious /full of fiber than oatmeal alone, given they're unprocessed.

Do not buy
Extremely dirty and gross! After washing them 5 times they smell funky when cooking and the sides of my pan get black with dirt! Also they don’t cook well don’t absorb water at all! Not worth your money! I would’ve give Negative stars if I could! I tossed them in the trash today!
