I''ve been setting up a small "backup workstation" in our spare room, using an assortment of peripherals that have been sitting idle for far too long, so that our Mac can be freed up for music-production. I bought this HDMI/VGA adapter for use with an Asus Chromebit CS10 (a "stick PC" running Chrome OS), in the hope that it would allow the Chromebit (HDMI) to use our venerable Philips 170C TFT monitor (VGA) in the workstation setup.When I asked on a Web forum if they thought this would work, the respondents were pessimistic; however, I thought this adapter was cheap enough that it was worth a try (and I could probably use the device for something else). I also liked how this adapter not only had a built-in audio output (and a stereo mini-jack cable was included - nice touch), but the HDMI input was female - most similar adapters have a male HDMI connector, so I would've needed to use a coupler.I connected everything up (Chromebit>adapter>monitor), turned on the monitor first (this is recommended for the Chromebit), and then the Chromebit... and up came the Chrome OS login screen. Perfect quality (by 2003-era TFT monitor standards!), and the Chromebit even got the resolution right first time, which suggests the adapter must've passed the monitor details through to the computer.(I haven't got around to testing the audio output, but will update the review when I do.)The only cause for possible concern, is that the adapter seems to run quite hot to the touch - even after barely five minutes of use, I would've been unable to touch it for more than a few seconds. I wonder if this may mean the device could be prone to failure; as with the audio output, I will update the review if the worst happen, but I hope it will be OK...In short: this adapter does what I hoped it would, with the equipment I have, and so far, it does it very well.

Excellent item, does exactly what is says... needed this to connect an HDMI output on a TV set-top (freeview) box to an old monitor display unit with VGA input. The 3.5mm audio was also invaluable as the monitor/display did not have audio, so this allowed me to connect an external set of speakers.

A handy device that let me reuse an old VGA terminal. The main drawback is that the old VGA connector isn't retained by its screws. This has a male HDMI connector and a female VGA so the whole connection sticks out of the HDMI port a fair way and is a bit insecure unless you tape up the VGA connection. Good for the price though.

Does the job for one thing I needed it for. I tried to use it to make a Chromecast work on an older TV with an incompatible HDMI socket but it still didn't work - the TV's too naff. Worked fine for adapting HDMI devices to a VGA monitor, however.

Works well, however, didn't work well with amazon fire stick. After about 30 mins the firestick was too hot and shut down. However, it works well with everything else

Does as advertised. Nvidia GPU users will have to go into NVidia control panel to change the resolution, just a little helpful hint that could have saved me some time, otherwise totally satisfied with this product.

I was intending to use this adapter to plug an Amazon fire TV stick into an old VGA-only monitor, but couldn't get it to work. Refund was straightforward

Ha funzionato esattamente 2 minuti dopo di che ha iniziato a spegnersi e riacenderse l'immagine da solo incluso l'audio quindi completamente inutilizzabili.... poi ci ha messo tanto ad arrivare pure il giorno della consegna ero a casa ma mi hanno solo lasciato il foglio dicendo che non c'ero magari solo perché non hanno voglia di fare le scale secondo piano anche se di solito scendo io peccato era molto bello piccolo pratico ma purtroppo non funziona ...

Funktioniert alles einwandfrei, wandelt die Daten zuverlässig um und steuert auch den Lautsprecher problemlos an.Nur in Verwendung mit meinem Microsoft Wireless Displayadapter wird der ChampSun verdächtig heiß, weshalb ich einen Stern abziehe.

Ho acquistato questo prodotto per collegare un mini pc ad un vecchio monitor LCD con presa VGA, ha funzionato perfettamente, la sorpresa è che ha collegato anche la PS4, avevo letto che era difficile questo tipo di collegamento, ottimo prodotto lo consiglierei

Je cherchais un adaptateur HDMI/VGA pour mon Lumia 950XL. Je fais des présentations sur vidéoprojecteur avec le Wireless display V2 de chez Microsoft. Rien à redire, ça marche parfaitement. La sortie son permet même d'y brancher des enceintes portables. Cela me donne un outil léger et facile à transporter pour mes présentations.

Livraison rapide Ok.Je voulais m'en servir pour projeter des films en provenance d'un disque dur multimédia, vers un retroprojecteur ayant une prise VGA.Si l'image était parfaite, le son était quand à lui inaudible, avec un grésillement très important.J'ai renvoyé l'article.

Fonctionne à merveille, il suffit juste de brancher le câble hdmi d'un côté, et le cable vga de l'autre !

Avis édité-----------------------Après avoir cru dans un premier temps que je vais pouvoir l'utiliser avec mon Chromecast, je n'ai jamais pu obtenir l'image une deuxième fois. J'ai demandé le retour et j'acheté un autre avec alimentation (au cas où le courant de Chromecast n'était pas suffisant), qui fonctionne mieux, mais avec beaucoup de coupures.Premier avis-----------------------Titre: Fonctionne bien mais la prise audio est un peu "capricieuse" (4 étoiles)J'ai acheté ce convertisseur pour brancher mon Chromecast sur mon vidéoprojecteur qui n'a pas d'entrée HDMI.Il est très petit et n'a pas besoin d'alimentation. Lors de mon premier branchement j'ai allumé mon vidéoprojecteur après avoir branché et allumé le Chromecast et il n'a pas été reconnu. J'ai débranché et rebranché et tout a fonctionné sauf l'audio.J'ai compris où était le problème avec l'audio : la prise jack est dans un renfoncement et si votre câble est avec des "têtes" un peu larges ça n'entre pas jusqu'au bout. Avec le câble fournit ça fonctionne, mais il faut vraiment bien l'enfoncer.En conclusion : c'est petit, ça marche, mais il faut s'adapté un peu à ses caprices ;)

j'avais acheté ce plug pour éviter d'avoir à acheter un Chromecast audio (vu que j'avais déjà un Chromecast).En effet, en branchant simplement le Chromecast sur la prise HDMI de cet adaptateur, et relié avec l'audio sur la chaîne Hifi, je voulais pouvoir envoyer le son sur la chaîne via le Chromecast.Dans le principe, ça fonctionne parfaitement, dans la pratique, avec cet adaptateur, ça aurait pu fonctionner si la prise jack n'était pas défectueuse... obliger de ne pas enfoncer entièrement la prise jack pour que l'audio passe correctement... bref, qualité audio trop aléatoire... je l'ai renvoyé...
