A new canister will give an invisible flame - and it seemed sufficient to me - like a blowlamp, though when its running low, you will get an orange flame as the pressure falls. The Piezo ignite doesn't work. I tried adjusting the metal anode to be closer to either the inner or outer metal and cleaned the inside steel ring to make for a better earth, but it is too far away to make a decent spark and I ended up using one of those handheld flame ignitors or a scented candle to get it going.The canisters fit ok - you just have to twist them, even though there is no screw or visible locking, it still seems to twist lock by magic. When I first lit it, it created a hot blowlamp blue flame which (with a light wind) caused a bellow of orange flame and it does appear (at least on mine) a strong pressure, but by the end of the cannister I was holding the item over the weed waiting for it to turn black and figured that weedkiller might be easier.I would say its a bit of fun and saves bending down weeding. But just keep it away from that blue dry grass plant, as that burns much better than weeds and can get you banned by your wife to stay in the shed.

First machine failed to ignite properly but sorted ok by supplier after an email or two . Replacement is fine and works quite well.

This weed burner was bought as a replacement for an identical one I bought last year. The igniter on the original one lasted for about a month before giving up the ghost. Sadly, the same thing happened with the replacement, in roughly the same time. I have now resorted to lighting it with a gas hob lighter. As a burner it is very good and tackles weeds quickly and effectively and is very economical on butane gas. Great pity about the ignition.

I was pleasantly surprised that the flame was quite powerful. Not a blowtorch or a flame thrower but more of a camping stove / cooker blue flame and definitely more powerful than limp an orange flame that I had read of similar product reviews.Easy to use, simply twist the cannister on, turn the gas on, hit the ignitor button and off you go.Quite satisfying to burn weeds away but it is nature after all and will of course grow back. How long that takes will be the question.I have only used it once, a continuous 20/30 minute burst so the cannister lasts long enough. As for how long the wand itself lasts, i shall use it again during the summer for sure and hopefully it is still going strong.

Flame gun ok. Flame from gas canister not strong enough.Would be better with a hot blue Flame. Not yellow like at present.Takes ages to burne weeds.

A good value-for-money gas weed burner. My only gripe is that the handle is a bit on the slim side which doesn't make for an easy grip, hence four stars rather than five, but overall it does what it is supposed to do.
