This is journal is amazing, the paper is thick and beautiful paper. The cover is classy and sturdy, you can throw it in your backpack and go, it will handle it. I bought the field artists paint set with this and the two are a perfect set to take anywhere they are so compact! I would recommend both these items to everyone for a quick on the go painting set.

Excellent size for your pocket, but not so small that it doesn’t allow freedom in what you paint. Takes watercolor wonderfully, with quite a lot of abuse until it begins to pill. I included a photo where I had completely over saturated parts of a painting for the edges of the clouds and it still doesn’t look very poor. Acrylic is fine but obviously be wary of sticking pages. After using this journal for two years, ripping out portraits for people, and still flicking through the pages today, the binding has held up amazingly well. The exterior is soft and comforting and the interior even more so. Highly recommend, I even gifted one to my sister who is just now getting into watercolor.

Trying out art journals prior to several overseas trips commencing soon (I hope). Have a travel art kit together but needed the final piece - the journal. Tried out every “watercolor” journal I could find from 10 different sources and this is the best one by far. I wanted it to fit a pocket in my tiny daypack and take the abuse a travel journal must withstand. It passed. The quality of the binding, paper and elastic band are excellent. Yup. I’m purring with anticipation.

very excellent quality paper, out together well, a fun size for traveling, however masking tape does NOT work with this paper, it will absolutely tear the page.

Love this , it's the perfect size for traveling and really takes the intimidation out of having to fill a giant page. I just finished mine and definitely need another. I have also used a range of mediums in it no problem. Watercolor, gouache, coloreded pencil , neocolor 2 and also posca pens ( the poscas did make little paper crumbles like always )

This is a great little notebook for watercolours. The paper takes a fair amount of wetness without turning into a mess. It's not a block, and you can't block the sheets before painting, so there will be some warping, but the paper is fairly thick and stands up to casual watercolouring. Little sketchbooks are a bit of a pain with watercolours because you need to let them dry out somehow, which always means propping the book open somewhere to dry out, then pressing it to try to smooth out the inevitable wrinkles, but this one has been a fun companion for plein air sketch painting.

I absolutely adore this little book. It feels so much more personal than my 7 x 10 or 8 x 8 books. I love the textured paper as it makes for great, quick sketches. I see some people have problems with the binding, I'm fortunate enough to not have had any issue with mine. I think its worth the money. Just make sure you're sketching on the textured part if you want to add water color
