Great, super light running shoe!
I only wish I had paid better attention and ordered the Ultra, which my wife has and loves - the only difference between the Ultra and Ultra Pure is the sock liner option (which is easily removed for times you don't want to use it, but super nice for those times you do). My wife has had hers for several months now and they are holding up great. We do a lot of running in our family, and we were concerned the Ultra shoes wouldn't hold up like our other Vivobarefoot soles based on reviews but thought, for the great price on Amazon, we would give them a try anyway, and we haven't been sorry. We are very into barefoot running, and have practiced running with proper form and we think this has a great deal to do with the fact that both our Ultras are still going strong even though we live in the very extreme hot desert in the Southwest and run on black trails in the heat a lot (we love the heat and often run late morning and even afternoon even in the summer months) and we have yet to have our soles wear out as others have mentioned. Overall we are both very happy with our purchases, we both own several pairs of Vivobarefoot shoes as well as Vibriams and the Vivobarefoot are both our favorites in every type of shoe whether running, casual, hiking, or dressy.

like Oakland, but in the nicest way
They are so light that there's no there there. After a lifetime of trousers, Weejuns, and button down shirts, I gave up socks, long pants, and leather shoes when I moved to Florida. I'm always looking for the ideal dress shoe, I.e., not flip flops. In a/lot of ways, these fit the bill. I think that in black they are quite unobtrusive. These are a little larger than most of the metric 46 shoes that I've purchased. I've taken two or three two mile walks in them and had no problems. Specifically, I was worried that they might ride up and down on my heels. But they are so flexible, this isn't an issue at all.According to the label on the shoes, I should expect 150 to 300 miles on them depending on whether I shuffle or not. If it's the latter, they'll cost about sixty cents a day, or $220 per year. That seems a little high to me, but if they continue to be as comfortable as they have been on my first walls, I think that they will be worth it.

Updated review on latest purchase
The review below was of the first 2 pairs that I bought over a year ago. Just reordered the white ones and wow, what a disappointment. First day the shoe starts peeling off its black band that separates the upper from the sole. Withing a couple of weeks the shoes looked old and junky. In contrast the original pair from 14 months ago that still look great (a worn out sole from lots of awesome wear led to the replacement purchase). I sent a mail to customer service and never heard back. Is this a case of the little company that gets big and quality goes out the window??? All I know is that the shoes are not of the quality of the previous pair.My old review on the pair before:I run to keep fit but have always dreaded my workouts. Bought these shoes more because they looked really cool and would make a great summer knock around shoe. They arrived and I went to their site and learned about the barefoot concept. Gave it a try and was blown away.

Backpacking camp / water shoe
I actually bought these in red a couple of years ago, and since then they stopped making them. Pricey, and fits large: I normally wear size 9.5 or 10 US, but these in size 42 / 9US without socks work well. I actually don't use these for everyday walking or running, more as a lightweight water shoe or camp shoe while backpacking (think creek crossings which are deep enough to saturate your boots / socks). A pair weighs about 8oz in my size. They are also nice for packrafting since they are so light.

Ten Days
These were delivered on July 26th. It is now August 5th. That's 10 days. The sole is already so worn in some parts that it's barely there. I have serious doubts that these will make it to three weeks - which is a moot point since they're too painful to use already.I was hoping to use these for running. I used to use the Ultra II for that, and they are -- by far -- the best running shoes I've ever used. Did I say "are"? I meant "were", since they are no longer available anywhere. The Ultra Pure look the same and have a lot of the same features... but they do not have a durable sole. At all. This was pretty obvious the moment I put them on. Tried running once and gave up.After that I used them for walking. If you walk on anything rougher than very, very smooth pavement, these guys will get eaten through in no time. For comparison, I've had pairs of Ultra II last through MONTHS of running on very rough asphalt. In fact. my last pair of those is well over a year old and the soles on THOSE are not as worn out as these are!

good product, fit is off
The shoe was very light weight. As others have noted,, feels like the same material that crocs are made from, but I don't think that's particularly bad. Can use on the road or as a water shoe. Comfortable to walk around and an as done on jogging.. Mildly disappointment, there are somewhat large for size. As a result, my foot swings at that which I don't light. They work better wearing a thick sock which somewhat defeats the purpose of wearing a shoe like this. I had expected to wear a very light ankle length sock.Otherwise, easy to tighten and provides adequate protection from small rocks when going off sidewalk and as fall. That's the purpose I purchased them for since going off road is where my Sockwa G3 has been uncomfortable.

Good for Pool Use
I purchased this item to use as a water slipper around the pool at one of my relative's house and found them quite suitable for that purpose, accordingly I gave the item five stars. However, I have seen other customer reviews stating they utilized this item as an all purpose shoe, I personally do not believe that this item affords enough support to be effective as an everday shoe. On the other hand I am large individual (250+ pounds) who needs shoes that provide substanial support, so I guess this could be subjective depending on your perspective. Bottom line is I would recommend Vivobarefoot Ultra Pure shoe to a friend based upon the use described.

Feeling like walking barefoot
Bought as a present for my husband. He wears them everyday when not at work and says that they have made a great difference to his feet - he has suffered from corns and stiffness in the past. He does not run in them. He says that the feeling is as though you are not wearing any shoes but nevertheless your feet are protected from anything that would cause abrasions.
