The Fake Mate: an unmissable steamy paranormal fake dating romcom

I was so excited to read this, and while it was good it fell a little below my expectations. I loved the almost immediate Twilght reference! I love pop culture references in books. Especially something that I'd from my childhood/teens years, it was so nostalgic.The agreement of fake dating was also immediate - but this was good to not drag it out as it literally is the title of the book.But I found the spicy scenes a bit cringy. Lots of references to knotting - which wasn't as cringe in Ali Hazelwoods Bride but here the spicy scenes were quite long and there were quite a few.The miscommunication trope is one of my least favourites, this wasn't that exactly, more lack of real communication and talking about how they feel.Alot of things could be solved if they just told each other how they felt...I think if I hadn't read this so near to Bride, I may have enjoyed it more?It honestly wasn't a bad book, just I've read better? But it was super fun and I loved the hospital setting! I love Greys Anatomy and this gave me those sort of vibes, with the drama and gossip of the hospital.

I HAD to read this book after reading 'The Nanny'. I'm actually gutted this author only has 2 books out. It was so readable, funny, sexy and I genuinely couldn't put the book down. My fave author of the year so far, im excited to see what else she has up her sleeve.

📖 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪 📖⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️This book is delightful and a easy read .Mackenzie quickly became one of my favourite female main characters in recent memory. She's hilarious, quick-witted, and incredibly intelligent. Despite her sunny disposition, she's not afraid to wield sarcasm, which added a delightful edge to her character.Noah, on the other hand, is the epitome of the grumpy yet undeniably attractive alpha doctor who is adamant about leading a solitary life.The chemistry between Mackenzie and Noah is electric, and it was a joy to witness Noah's transformation as the story unfolded.I'm a sucker for the fake dating trope, so I was thrilled to find it incorporated into the story, and adding an Omegaverse twist was just the cherry on top.The book was an effortless read, with excellent pacing and writing. I found myself breezing through it over two sittings and thoroughly enjoying every moment.

The fake dating trope is one of my favorites. Seeing Mack and Noah try to avoid their own feelings is kinda funny. It's so obvious that they want to be together.It was a really cute shifter rom-com with lots of steam. So if that's your thing, go for it.

Very readable, I couldn't put it down. I really liked the more rom-com aspects of the book with good "fake dating" twist to a paranormal story.I mostly shy away from the "alpha " trope because abusive and toxic behaviour is very common but this was excellent because it didn't use the alpha status to excuse misogyny and abuse.I was sometimes a little lost in the werewolf/shifter vocabulary because I am not (yet) well versed in this particular branch of romance novels but I am definitely going to dive in.

Not really into the Shifter Trope thing as they are usually a little cheesy! However I really enjoyed this read, I will read more by this author! Loved it

Loved the first half of the book - classic chic lit with a werewolf twist 💕. Which I found was a refreshing take on the romance troupe. Reminded me alot of the book “my roommate is a vampire” so if you like that story then you will like this book too.But then the second half of the book was ruined by 3 chapters of nothing but sex scenes- with very explicit oral sex mentioned 🤢 which I found too much 🙈🤮.

Such a cute read - I loved the characters so SO much! And contains a LOT of spicy scenes 😳🙈

Foi como se eu estivesse entrando em um universo novo, desconhecido e fascinante, e que possui muitos termos e regras diferentes que eu fiquei obcecada em conhecer e compreender.e eu amei o romance entre o casal! realmente o mundo dos romances já está meio saturado de fake dating, mas o enredo criado pela Lana Ferguson foi tão orgânico pra mim que não senti nenhuma estranheza com esse plot. o motivo pros protagonistas fazerem esse acordo foi plausível, a execução foi progressiva e o resultado delicioso! a autora realmente conseguiu dar seu toque especial ao utilizar esse trope e eu amei cada segundo dessa leitura!amei conhecer esses personagens, suas inseguranças e medos, ver eles evoluindo, crescendo e se auto-descobrindo também.ver o Noah cuidando da Mackenzie com tanto zelo e amor e ver ele se abrindo foi tudo de bom e a Mackenzie indo atrás do que ela queria e agarrando o touro pelo cifre foi uma bela surpresa.enfim, não teve nada que não gostei no livro. ele teve mais cenas de sexo do que costumo considerar necessário mas nem liguei, adorei cada uma delas.super recomendo e com certeza lerei outros livros da autora.tropes/conteúdo:- fake dating- romantasia - dual pov- workplace romance- grumpy sunshine- aquela cena que um cuida do outro quando ta doenteAh e sobre a edição da Berkley, a capa é soft touch :)

And it was a solid read. I do think, based on what I am seeing in the public reviews, that a lot of people were not ready at all for Omegaverse in with a cute cartoon cover.For those of us who have read Omegaverse  before, or those of you who are familiar with monster or shifter romance, I thought it was a pretty solid read. It read a lot like The Love Hypothesis if it was about alphas and omegas, with a TON more spice. Noah is super broody and awkward and quiet. Mackenzie is all sunshine and rainbows and sometimes oblivious. I loved the story, and I particularly loved when Noah started to embrace is alpha-ness, as well as his pining for Mackenzie. I honestly think this is a great place to start if you want to get into Omegaverse  but have been weary of where to start. It's a tamer, more starter version that might get you hooked. As someone who is a seasoned Omegaverse reader, I would say that it's like Omegaverse lite. There's the dynamic for sure, and there's (oh so much) knotting, but it's lighter on the paranormal side and world building. Finished the book in a day! A wolfey modern day rom-com with the perfect balance of a decent plot and great spice. A great swoony escape.

The fake mate story from Lara Ferguson is a cute and steamy story for inbetween.It takes place at a hospital. I like, that there are no gruesome operations, blood splattering emergencies or anything like that. Because of few hospital interactions or the similarity to other workplaces, I think the story could have also played in an office workplace.I like the changing story telling from Mackenzie's and Noah's point of view. And that alpha needs the help, not the omega. The dialogues are heartwarming and funny. The sex sounds hot and fulfilling. It's a good story for steamy entertainment.
