1.5 volt batteries
The big deal with these batteries is they are 1.5 volts; they have the same voltage as classic, non-rechargeable alkaline and other non-lithium batteries. Most rechargeable Li-On batteries are 1.3 volts. And while many electronic and other battery powered devices are fine with a slightly lower voltage, some are not ...especially older equipment/devices designed to run on 1.5v batteries for power. And for those devices, batteries like these are a god send.I have an old, new-old-stock (NOS) Nikon camera for which the battery is no longer made. To power it, I use an external battery pack that was an option for the camera when it was new. The camera is powered by six, 1.5v alkaline batteries ...9 volts total. Using normal rechargeable Li-On batteries power was 7.8 volts; the camera was not happy. Enter these 1.5v batteries and life is good. The longevity on these batteries is very good and they are excellent at holding a charge. They work surprisingly well in my camera having a charge lasting as long, if not longer, than the original battery.EDIT: Beware. These batteries will *completely* discharge if left in devices putting a constant drain on them. When the voltage drops below a certain point, the battery cannot be recharged or even "jump started" to allow the charger to recognize them. I used 6 of the 8 batteries in an old Nikon camera battery pack. The volatile memory for the date and time function on the camera was the small, but constant drain on these batteries (as the battery for this function was dead). There is no "smart chip" preventing voltage from dropping to zero volts (0.1 or 0.2 volts actual measurement). Once this happens, the batteries are dead and unusable. My bad for forgetting to remove them. Just beware to pull the batteries if you intend to use them in devices putting a constant drain on them.

UPDATE: EBL service sent NEW batteries!! Only two of the batteries ever worked.
September 2022 Update: Bottom line? These are lithium AA batteries done right! I have a battery toothbrush, and alkalines don't seem to last very long. NiMH rechargeables don't seem to put out the voltage to make the toothbrush work very well. These rechargeable lithium batteries are PERFECT for the job. They put out strong voltage, and so far they are running my toothbrush, flashlights, and whatever other device I use them in MUCH better than NiMH batteries. These are great for devices where having the full 1.5v matters. Also, I have one other brand of lithium AA batteries. They also put out strong voltage, but they also have circuitry for lighting when they are charging. While this is a neat effect, like the lithium AAs with built in USB ports, any additional circuitry takes up space that could be used for actual battery capacity. These EBLs last significantly longer than the other brands of lithium batteries I have. I highly recommend them. You're getting a pure battery that will last as long as possible with no superfluous bells or whistles. And that's how I like my batteries! Excellent product by EBL.May 2022 Update: EBL has AWESOME customer service. I'm updating my review because they replaced the batteries with a new set, and the new set charges PERFECTLY! I must have just had a bad batch, but I'm happy to report that EBL stands behind their warranty on their product. If I have any additional issues with the new batteries, I'll update, but so far so good!!Old review:So first off, my son ended up taking them. He planned on using them but never did. Never used them and never charged them. Since we purchased these batteries we have had to move. As we've gradually been unpacking, we finally found the batteries. They all look brand new and have no signs of use. They are over a year old, but as they've never been used or charged, I never expected them to be bad!Sadly, 6 of the 8 batteries won't charge. The 2 that do don't hold a charge very well. These were expensive, and it was a lot of money wasted. As you can see in the picture, six of the batteries don't charge at all. They will stay red indefinitely, even if the charger is connected for several days!I have other lithium AA chargers, and those charges also do not charge these EBL batteries. My older lithium AA and AAA batteries all work fine. These EBLs are the first ones I've ever had problems with.Moral of the story? Make sure you test your studf out RIGHT AWAY before your return policy runs out. 😉

Battery quality is good, vendor is too
The function is reasonably intuitive. Bought two of them, about a year apart. The second one still is working well, but the first set of batteries no longer charge in either of the chargers. Might be a quality problem with that batch. Probably used them only five times, when they are expected to last for several thousand cycles. Will report back when the second set quit working.update 20 March 2025 - The vendor offered replacement or refund, in response my previous review. I asked if they have or could determine root cause by analyzing the returned batteries. Still no response on that. This information would guide my decision as to whether the problem has been fixed, or I would be better off with the money. Would love to see these batteries work reliably and be more affordable in other sizes like AAA, C, and D.update 27 April 2025 - Worked with the vendor to identify the problem. I had confused their lithium NON-RECHARGEABLE batteries with the rechargeable ones. They were very helpful in suggesting tests. As noted by other reviewers, they are standing behind the products. I increased the rating from two stars to four stars.
