The arm rest is not height adjustable because it’s screw into the chair

Do the ears come off?

Yes. They are just like ordinary kitten ears you buy at the store around Easter time. You could also replace yourselves.

I am a 4ft 11in adult. Will it be too tall for me, from an ergonomic standpoint?

I am 5'1 & petite...this is one of the only chairs that I actually fit in nicely in.
