The Collected Works of Filler Bunny
F**S
This is the definitive Filler Bunny collection!
Like most people, I have already read (and own) the other Filler Bunny comics, but I figured I'd go ahead and just review all of them here in this lovely collection. Also like most people, I was first introduced to Jhonen Vasquez's works through Invader Zim (of whom I am a huge fan), and eventually decided to try out his comics. That's where I differ a bit from the typical fan, who would probably have started with Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. Nope, I somehow decided it'd be easier to ease myself into the comic world of Mr. Vasquez by starting with Filler Bunny. No, I don't know why I thought that'd be a good idea (and I don't recommend it for others). Anyway, that brings us to this item, “The Collected Works of Fillerbunny.”If you are looking at this review, I presume you are already a fan of Filler Bunny, or at the very least, Jhonen Vasquez, or else, why would you even be here? Well, if you are looking to collect the Filler Bunny comics, this is the best item to get. The physical book is bound in softcover, but is of high quality. The pages feel decently thick, but are in the original black and white (except for the few pages of the third Filler Bunny comic that were originally in color anyways). Also, if you are concerned that this version misses anything from the originals, the only difference I can see is that the covers for the original books are reproduced in black and white when they were originally in color. Other than that, everything appears to be here from the originals. Plus, in addition to this, there's a brand new Filler Bunny comic included! As for the content of the new comic, if you liked the old stuff, you'll probably like this...If you DO happen to be someone who's never experienced Filler Bunny before...Well, the plot of this thing is a bit difficult to review. Filler Bunny was originally meant literally to be filler in the spare pages of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, because apparently when Jhonen needed to fill some extra space he instantly thought the best way to do so was to draw a cartoon rabbit being tortured over and over again (yeah, it sounds bad, and it might be, but it's pretty funny as far as dark humor goes......don't judge me!). Anyway, Filler Bunny is not a coherent narrative experience since it was only ever meant to be filler. Over time it's sort of grown into its own unique thing, though, and has evolved beyond just being filler for another comic. So, if you want to easily collect all the Filler Bunny comics in one place (plus the extra comic), then this is the definitive version to get. As for whether or not you'll like it if you've never read anything by Jhonen before, I think you'll just have to try it yourself. I strongly suggest, though, if you are new to Jhonen's works, that you start with Johnny the Homicidal Maniac first. Nonetheless, for people who are already fans of Jhonen's works, “The Collected Works of Filler Bunny” is a real treat.

If you like twisted humor, this is for you!
As the title says, only a person who has a particular taste in humor should read this. Maybe many people will get upset by reading this kind of works. But I'm not like that. I love Vasquez's works because they show reality in a very crude and somewhat senseless way, but it's okay for me because I also have a strange point of view about life. I think Fillerbunny is a great collection you should have if you consider yourself a Vasquez fanatic as I am. Man! I love every single work he has done, especially when he focused on cruelty and melodramatic prose (which are the most common themes in his works, heheheh!). Anyway, I highly recommend this comic for having it in a dark collection somewhere under your coffee table.

and the print is wonderful. My husband has since enjoyed this I bought ...
My husband is a huge Vasquez fan, and had never read the Filler Bunny stuff. I got this as a birthday preset. It was exactly what I was expecting it to be, and the print is wonderful. My husband has since enjoyed this I bought with with Squee's Wonderful Big Giant Book of Unspeakable Horrors and JTHM Director's Cut. He enjoyed all 3 books. Even for paperback books, they came in beautiful condition. They sent on a self in his office among his other collect of books and such. It's a great addition for any Vasquez fan.

You've Never Seen Filler Like This Before
I first encountered Filler Bunny at an age that was definitely not the age the publishers and Jhonen Vasquez had originally intended Filler to be read by. I blame Mr. Vasquez for all the intensive therapy I've had to undergo as a result of having my developing brain exposed to the mind bending effects of Filler Bunny. Before my sanity completely evaporates I'll try to sum up my thoughts on this collection of madness. The first thing you ought to know is that Filler Bunny is kind of a spin-off of another Vasquez comic. When he was working on his other cult favorite, Squee, Vasquez would find himself close to his publishers deadline and not have a finished comic for them. In order to solve this problem he created Filler Bunny to literally "fill up" space. Vasquez enjoyed playing sadist to this little pink rabbit so he got his very own book. The humor of Filler Bunny is very dark. If you're easily offended (which if you've read anything else by Vasquez would be surprising) this comic is probably not for you. Filler Bunny is a lab experiment that is routinely put through excruciating torture to entertain his faceless scientist rulers and the audience. The scientists often inject him with a slew of drugs that have varying effects but are always for their amusement. A reoccurring theme of Filler Bunny is that happiness is an elusive dream always out of reach by forces outside our control. Perhaps Filler Bunny's marionette life is symbolic for how Vasquez has felt during the creative process. There is no linearity to the comics with each book being an entirely different erm... storyline (if we can call it that). Vasquez himself appears throughout the series where he engages in humorous arguments with his capitalist creatively challenged boss, the Chief, about what direction to take Filler Bunny.Originally there were only 3 issues of Filler Bunny available, but for this collection Vasquez made a 4th. It's funny, although I was kind of disappointed in the ending. I guess it's true to what Filler Bunny is all about, though after so much torture I was kind of hoping that Filler would get a break. Following the fourth comic are a bunch of fan made comic strips of Filler Bunny. They range in quality, though I found them entertaining. After that the collection is concluded with a note from Vasquez to the reader about how Filler Bunny was conceived, his thoughts looking back on it, and how the collection was made.I think my only gripe with Filler Bunny is ironically the filler type quality of some of the jokes. This is particularly noticeable in Vol. 1. Personally, I found Vol. 2 and 3 more clever and funny, although I can see how fans could dislike Vol. 3's improved details. If you're a fan of Vasquez's work I don't see any reason why you shouldn't pick this one up. If you've never seen or read any of Vasquez's works but enjoy zaney dark humor this may be up your alley as well. I'd recommend grabbing Filler Bunny along with JTHM, Squee!, and if you can get it I feel sick too. Happy reading!

El libro llegó en buen estado y es un bastante interesante. (Aunque no es la mejor obra de Jhonen).
