So I was using super luxury brands like Sulwhasoo or SK II which work great for my skin. But the Sulwhasoo was so heavily scented to the point that my husband has a hard time sitting next to me. Most of SK II products contain parabens which were off putting to me. I decided to try cheaper alternatives and I’m so glad I found Purito with short ingredient list and this is the only niacinamide serum I tried that doesn’t break me out (I do see some negative reviews about skin breaking out. So it’s likely the niacinamide causing flares or skin is just reacting to it). I’m “allergic to vitamin c serums. It tends to cause rash or skin bumps on me. I’ve been trying to find a vitamin c alternative and I think this is the real magic potion for me. I use it once daily at night with my tretinoin. And I wake up with really smooth skin and the tone is brighter after just a week. I will have to try it longer to see if it helps with fading the spots, but I go to a dermatologist to take care of my hyperpigmentation. I doubt if this serum really gets rid of stubborn dark spots. But it definitely made my skin softer and the tone is brighter. It doesn’t seem to work too well under my Mizon Bb cream. It doesn’t cause pilling but it has a shiny texture to it. So I only uses it at night. I’m not comparing this to the luxury skin care I used to use, but I’m pretty happy with the results so far and of course my wallet is a lot happier too!!

I love this essence! I spreads very easily with its thin texture, is hydrating and makes my skin so soft.The hard part about this essence is that the main ingredient can be sensitizing to some people, as you can see in other reviews. Sadly, skincare is not one size fits all, which really sucks. I would definitely recommend introducing this essence by itself for at least two weeks before/after switching anything in your routine. Do not add it if your skin is already irritated, you’ll just be mad at yourself 😭.I had been using tretinoin for three months before I started using this, my skin was doing well and had acclimated to it at that point, no irritation. Omg, it changed the texture of my skin in only a few days! My skin got so soft and smooth. Yes, I know tretinoin is made to do this too, but it’s a little too coincidental for me for it to have improved that much at the same time as introducing this essence. I’ve been using it for almost two months now and my skin is still as soft and smooth as when I started. Also, it has helped reduce my oil production because of the extra hydration and small amount of Niacinamide. I had trouble with The Ordinary Niacinamide serum drying me out and just making my face HURT, so I thought I was sensitive to it, but I think it was the formula and percentage of it that I had a problem with. So if you had the same problem, don’t be scared of trying this with it’s smaller percentage!Oh, I almost forgot! I live in a dry climate with combination sensitive prone skin! I hope this helps!EDIT: 2 years laterI am still in love with this essence, I once tried to stop using it about a year into using it to see if it was truly making a difference and it really does. I ordered it after a week of non use, because I couldn’t stand how quickly my fungal acne came back. I have to say it still does exactly what it did from the beginning. It keeps away all the little bumps from the fungal acne I get from all the sweating that happens living in the desert and still helps with my oil production.

The essence is lightweight and brightens/softens your skin but I didn’t notice much of an effect on pore control or acne prevention. Having finished the product, I haven’t seen any substantial difference to my combination, acne-prone skin. Still, I think this could offer some benefit to different skin concerns.

TLDR: this stuff is amazing. i use an antibacterial for acne at night and it dries my skin out a bit. but in the morning, i use this stuff to replenish the moisture barrier and microbiome on my skin and it has really been a game changer. i have used sk-ii and it wasnt nearly as good this in my opinion. i have very reactive skin including peri-oral dermatitis so i have to be really careful what i use - this causes no breakouts or irritation! i use it on my entire face, and then put moisturizinn cream only on targeted areas (rather than my whole face).skin background and issues:im in my 30s and my skin keeps changing, so i will think i have solved my problems and then new ones crop up. i have oily, acne prone skin that has become very sensitive and reactive. for a while, not washing my face but using micellar waters really helped, but not exfoliating ultimately led to a host of different problems. i used to be able to exfoliate all the time to even out tone and texture (which i know is ill-advised, but my point is that my skin used to love it) and now i can only do that once every week or two, but even then my skin would get upset at the trauma. i have tried chemical exfoliants as well as physical exfoliants and neither is ideal, but physical is slightly better but you can only do that so often. one chemical exfoliant i tried (recherche p50!) triggered peri-oral dermatitis around my mouth, nose, and eyes anyway, so that further limits my ability to exfoliate and what products i can use. anyway the accumulation of dead skin increases sebaceous filaments and other annoying skin issues to battle, plus the dermatitis, it's just been a nightmare. this stuff has really saved my skin! (after this product, i use Medicine Mama's Sweet Bee Magic All In One Healing Skin Cream on the spots with dermatitis followed by Weleda Calendula Diaper Rash Cream - my dermatitis is almost completely gone!!)

this is the best niacinamide serum I have ever used on my life and I have oily acne prone skin, it gives you an amazing glow and it's not gressy or anything like that, it doesn't break me out, I would def recommend and buy again :)
